Daughter update

#1 Post by Bob Juch » Tue Oct 09, 2007 10:29 am

Heather's MRI and EEG showed she still has significant brain damage. They're scheduling a PET scan which should show exactly how much.

She keeps getting headaches and sleeps about twenty hours a day. She has problems transferring her short-term memory to her long-term memory. Only about half what's normal makes it.

She also has c-spine and l-spine and knee damage and is seeing an orthopedic surgeon to determine a course of action that may range from surgery to physical therapy.

I'm playing taxi driver as needed but her older daughter is also driving her when she can.

Of course I also get to spoil her and her daughters.

Work has been very understanding about my taking time to drive her when needed. I've been approved for being out here up to two months but that will be extended if necessary when they see my work isn't affected. I will probably be approved for a permanent move if needed.

Good vibes, etc. will be appreciated.

Best wishes sent your way. It is great that work is being supportive.

And on a side note, your emoticon seems very naughty!

SOrry to hear your daughter's injuries are not improving, Bob. Head injuries are insidious. Good vibes heading your way.

Oh no.

I just hope hope hope this is something that clears up with time.

Sometimes, it really does.

Here's hoping.

Starting yesterday, the pinkie and ring fingers of her left hand have gone numb. I know that's the ulnar nerve. She woke up this morning with them numb, so that's not caused by pressure on the nerve in her arm. It must be due to the nerve being pinched where it exits her spinal column in her neck. :(

She's supposed to talk with the orthopedic surgeon today.

It's really, really crowded in there, so any inflammation can cause a problem. Continued best wishes to her.
