Re: Five Guys Fan Post of the Day
Mrs. Rexer & I ate at 5 Guys in Southlake, TX tonight. I have never driven so far to eat a mediocre burger before. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. And semi-expensive. $19 for 2 burgers, 1 order of fries & 2 drinks? It definitely wasn't worth the 20 minute drive.
So what is the big deal about 5 guys, anyway? Going to the Whataburger down the street would have been more satisfying.

Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

I had just gotten back from a concert by the Glengarry Bhoys, so I stopped in for a quick check of the Bored while winding down.
There's another performance tonight, if anyone's going to be in the Homer area.

I just watched the first Brian Williams thingie of being with the president. Is that where this whole 5 Guys thing came from?Rexer25 wrote:Mrs. Rexer & I ate at 5 Guys in Southlake, TX tonight. Nope. Obama must have gotten it from the bored. It was being discussed here long before that special.peacock2121 wrote:I just watched the first Brian Williams thingie of being with the president. Is that where this whole 5 Guys thing came from?
It was mentioned in passing last year, and the recent mentions started in "the burger thread" in February. Several times, BBs (Snaxx) have posted pictures from 5G showing where the potatoes came from on a given day.

Re: Five Guys Fan Post of the Day
Just found out that a Five Guys opened in Austin a few months ago (I'm guessing) so we went there tonight - the last time I ate at one was in Alexandria, VA (which IIRC is their original store) around 7 years ago. It was very good and, no offense, but Whataburger can't hold a candle to fresh made hamburgers and fries.
So Austin now has a number of fresh made, never frozen hamburger/fries places - P. Terry's, Mighty Fine, TerraBurger and I think Phil's Ice House - all good locations for a great hamburger.

Re: Five Guys Fan Post of the Day
IIRC the first thing I did was leave a message on Facebook (Filly) then post here when I saw where the fries were from. It happens I'm more addicted to the fries than the burgers.
I'll be visiting DC in a couple of weeks (Since Five Guys is based in the Washington DC area, is this like a Starbucks nut visiting Seattle?)
Since I'm addicted to the fries, shouldn't I be visiting Idaho instead of Washington?

I went to 5 Guys in the Chinatown area of DC last week.
Potatoes were from Driggs, ID.
I like Whataburger and 5 Guys.

Five Guy's first store was in Arlington, VA. It no longer exists.
HQ is now in Lorton, VA which is in the DC suburbs.

I've never been to Whataburger, I don't know if I've ever even seen one. And I'm pretty sure just about everyone knows how I feel about 5 Guys!!

I'll bet that's almost as good as the burgers I whipped up this morning to go with my hernia jug of Pepsi.....

I have never even been to a Five Guys (nor seen one)......
I wonder if they'd taste as good as the quarter meat at Mickey Dee's does with a whole packet of salt and pepper sprinkled on it.......

I actually think you'd like it. You can get the single or the double, with or without cheese and/or bacon, and any toppings you want on it.littlebeast13 wrote:sunflower wrote:Have you had a 5 Guys burger?littlebeast13 wrote:

I always stop at Whataburger in Birmingham on my way home from the airport. Their fries don't hold a candle to
Five Guys. The burger is a sad substitute and since I'm always eating while driving, I can't say it really makes
that much difference. In the end, I would have to say Five Guys wins in both categories.
