When do the phone lines open?
Isn't it great that we can finally ask this question again and have an actual answer?

Re: When do the phone lines open?
It's taken me a while to remember how I used to do this.
I took a legal pad and drew 5 big representations of the 1 through 4 on the phone pad. 1, 2, 3 in a row and the 4 directly below the 1, two drawings to a sheet. On the call, I would scribble the key words of the question on the top of the sheet ("start earliest" "north to south") and then scribble the each answer under the number assigned to it. Then, I would take a breath, and visualize the correct order, and punch it in.
Of course, this only got me as far as Round 2 twice, so maybe I should try something else.

I am about 25% sure of this.

Re: When do the phone lines open?
The Feinberg method, IIRC, was to scrawl the relevant parts of the question, especially the order (highest to lowest, youngest to oldest, last to first, etc.), then arrange the words in their correct order as they are given to you, with the actual number next to them.nitrah55 wrote:It's taken me a while to remember how I used to do this.

Example:
Q - Arrange these animals in size from smallest to largest, usually abbreviated as "animals small -> large".
Given order: 1 - dog; 2 - elephant; 3 - mouse; 4 - moose.
Written down as:
----
1 dog (leaving space above and below), then
----
1 dog
2 elephant (leaving space between them for an assumed animal between these, given the size difference here), then
----
3 mouse
1 dog
2 elephant, then
----
3 mouse
1 dog
4 moose
2 elephant
Punch in 3142, then await the next question (or celebrate if this was the last one).
Named for Mike Feinberg, a BB and PTBAM player, who came up with it. $32K or $64K winner, I forget which. Again IIRC, he may not have voted for McCain because of his last question.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

As Ms. Peahen would say....Of course, this only got me as far as Round 2 twice, so maybe I should try something else.
BITE ME.
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

You're confusing your Hot Seaters. Mike Feinberg was a member of alt.tv.game-shows and a $64,000 winner. Mark Dixon is a BB and a $32,000 winner... and the one who has been saying for years, "Charles Keating. I hate that guy."gsabc wrote:Named for Mike Feinberg, a BB and PTBAM player, who came up with it. $32K or $64K winner, I forget which. Re: When do the phone lines open?
I think KT, The Big Kahuna and me were the top three oh-fers. I may have been a little lower than third on the list, but not by much. My successful Round 1s were in the 70-80 range.hf_jai wrote:Me too.KillerTomato wrote:As Ms. Peahen would say....Of course, this only got me as far as Round 2 twice, so maybe I should try something else.

But I am right about Feinberg not having the Charles Keating question.

That's right! Thanks for the correction. It has been a while since thinking of (and missing) the two of them.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:You're confusing your Hot Seaters. No, but when I was 5 years old, I tried to buy a Popple at a Kroger with 13 cents and a Dum-Dum.littlebeast13 wrote:hbomb1947 wrote:Is ES really still using a rotary phone?
