I don't know if they are or not. If they said he was a drill instructor, then I guess they are.....

I see the problem. I haven't seen any of those movies except Toy Story, which is voice only. I must have missed
the House episodes he was in.

Drill instructor, actor, it wouldn't have mattered...I still didn't know who he was.

Well, it says he was from 1965 to 1967.

Born in Emporia, Kansas, Ermey enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1961. Ermey was a drill instructor at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, and Parris Island, South Carolina from 1965 to 1967. In 1968, Ermey arrived in Vietnam where he served for 14 months with the Marine Wing Support Group 17. He then served two tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan, during which he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) and was medically retired in 1972 for several injuries incurred during his tours.

I'm not certain what source they used for that data. His official web page seems to be more commercial than biographical.

I apologize, I misspoke. He wasn't a Gunnery Sergeant in his actual service. I just always think of DIs as Gunnies........

He's an Honourary Gunnery Sergeant like Maya Angelou is an Honourary Doctor.

Well Marley, I guess my usual BP range of 95-115/50-70 would worry you. Other than passing out when I stand up too fast, I'm perfectly fine.

Well, if you exercise a lot (like Sprots mentioning jogging 20-30 miles a week), that's great. I'd just be surprised (okay, a little surprised) to see someone else with numbers that good.

I exercise, though not to that degree. But I do walk almost daily and do light weight training. It may be hereditary - my father's is on the low side (and even when he was 100# overweight it went up to what would be "normal" for anyone else, about 120's/70's). His cholesterol is a different story, but fortunately that number is low for me too, along with my blood sugar (I have a tendency to get hypoglycemic) - I guess I'm just destined to have low numbers!

The OH thing has been with me for almost 30 years (since I was a teenager) - none of my doctors seem too concerned. They all say the same thing, "don't stand up so fast!"

What was odd is that I haven't worn contacts since Tuesday, so if I tore my cornea (again) when I removed my lenses on Tuesday, it should have been unpleasant on Wednesday, but everything was OK then, other than the sinusitis thingie. So right now I am taking one antibiotic for the sinusitis (horse pill, 2 times per day), two separate antibiotic eyedrops (one three times per day, the other four times per day), I am taking Mucinex to try and clear the congestion (one horse pill once or twice per day), a nasal wash (once or twice per day), and generic pain reliever (aspirin). And my ~!@#$%^&* eye still hurts like hell, and the lymph nodes are still swollen and hurt like hell (the one on the left, anyway), my nose is running disgustingly like an incumbent Congressman, my left eye is tearing like a teenage girl watching Titanic, and I can barely see anything anyway, and I cannot even wear my cool eye patch because it bulges out and my glasses cannot cover it.

Well. As it happens, I can stoically bear the tortures of the damned without complaint, so long as people know that I am stoically bearing the tortures of the damned without complaint. And now you all know. So, may I please have a bit of pity and sympathy, so that I can get through the rest of the day, without having to whine any further?

When I was pregnant with Maddie, I has hyperemesis gravidarum throughout my pregnancy. During one of the occasions, the effluvia bounced off the rim of the toilet and hit me in the eye causing a corneal ulcer. The ulcer was so severe that I two types of drops were prescribed for me and I needed drops put in every two hours. Because Jeff was a 4th year medical student, they trusted him to take care of it, otherwise I would have been admitted to the hospital.

After a few days of being woken up every two hours (and being pregnant) I am pretty sure that I was a bitch.

I admire the fact that you seem to be dealing with this much better than I did. I admire your stoicism.

Tons of sympathy being sent your way. Two annoying problems at once makes it seem like 200. Did you get any pain meds?
2 weeks ago my contact ( a new multi-focal) ripped into 2 pieces as I was taking out my lens. The jagged edge of the piece that didn't want to leave my eye caused so much pain, I actually became a bi*ch to geoffil hubby and demanded he take out my lens. He said no way and I was in so much pain and cursed him and I have never said those words ever to him before. My eye was so red, blurry and puffy for 2 days so I get how awful you must feel. Get well soon!
