I'd also like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday Season and hope that 2014 is a most excellent year for all of us. It's been about a dozen years since I joined this family and I can't begin to explain to "outsiders" the fun, happiness, and friendship I've had during that time and what it has meant to me. My very best to you all.....

I wish y'all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Merry Christmas Movie House!

I was just remembering my happiest Christmas memory, when my father walked in the door two days before Christmas 2002, sent home from Afghanistan three months early. He said "Daddy's home!" and I screamed and jumped up and hugged him. My little sister started to cry. She was 18 months old and hadn't seen him in nine months. Dad was crushed that she didn't recognize him, but as the night went on she started to realize that his voice was the voice she had heard on the phone so many times.

That was a wonderful Christmas memory in my family too. My brother was supposed to have a one-year tour in Vietnam and left on January 2. But he came home December 15 the same year! We knew he was coming home and went from airport to airport and finally picked him up in Farmington, NM. Whew! I never saw Mom cry so much.

Best Christmas/Holiday wishes to all my bored buddies. Hard to believe how long we've kept this group together. I have some truly good friendships from showing up here and am fortunate to say I have friends all over the country.

Christmas Day, 1967, I boarded my ship the USS Chemung (AO-30) at Subic Bay, Philippines. Most Christmases after that were better.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

The dogs here got really excited, helping us open our presents, this morning. Like a pack of ravening wrapping wolves, they were!
