I Love the 80s!

COMING & GOING

1981
In March, a Texan known as "the most trusted man in America" signed off after 19 years as news anchor for a major network. Another Texan took over.

Name the outgoing newsman. (2 points)

Walter Cronkite

He was from Texas? Why did I think Wisconsin or someplace like that?

Name the incoming newsman. (2 points)

Dan Rather

Name the network. (2 points)

CBS

TV SHOWS & THEME SONGS

A prolific TV theme show composer charted three singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the 70s and 80s. His first was "The Rockford Files" in 1975.

Name the composer. (3 points each)

Charlie Harper

I don't even remember a Rockford Files theme song, just the answering machine. Oooh! An answering machine, how hi-tech is Smooth Jim Rockford???

Name the other two TV theme songs that charted (one in 1981, the other 1982): (3 points each)

Hill Street Blues
Magnum PI

Hint: One was from a cop show, the other a detective show

Thanks for the hint, it at least gave me some something to try and make an educated guess. Hill Street Blues I think had a big deal theme and I know they were in 81 because I'd watch Cheers on my portable tv in my $225/mo apartment and then when I heard the HSB theme I knew it was time to go and make the donuts.... As for Magnum? He's the only early 80s detective I can think of (other than Simon & Simon and I can't remember their theme song). Scads of them in the 70s, but then everything went cops and lawyers.

LOVE & MARRIAGE

1986
A royal wedding took place at Westminster Abbey on 23 July 1986. The same day, the Queen dubbed him Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, and Baron Killyleagh.

Name this now-divorced royal couple. (3 points each)

Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward and Sarah Margaret Ferguson

Why do I even remember that name crap? I'm just a sucker for royal weddings, I guess.

Fun Fact: Andrew and Sarah are practically living together these days and would probably get married again, except they don't want to incur the wrath of Prince Philip, who can't stand her.

ACTORS & LINES

1989
A young man holds up a boombox playing a popular 80s song outside of a girl's bedroom window. The scene says it all.

Name the movie. (3 points)

Say Anything

Name the song. (3 points)

In Your Eyes

Name the actor who holds up the boombox. (3 points)

John Cusack

Super geek bonus: Name the character. (4 points)

Dolby? Doppler? Something like that

Although if it was Doppler, shouldn't he have been playing Radar Love? Ha! And Dolby just because of the whole sound/boombox thing. I've never ever seen this stupid movie.
