Front man for the great rock/power pop band The Smithereens. Love that band. This sucks.

In addition to their fine catalog of originals, they did TWO albums of Beatles covers (one of which was the entire "Meet The Beatles" LP) and The Who's "Tommy" in its entirety. DiNizio did a very good album of Buddy Holly covers as well.
A few examples of his work:
I absolutely LOVE this one:
and, since 'tis the season:

Re: RIP Pat DiNizio
Wow! This is much more of a shocker than some other recent passings, due to his (relatively young) age and my not being aware of any illness nor injury.
I love the Smithereens! I think I wore out (burned a laser hole through?) the "Especially for You" CD when it came out. I'll have to dig that up in Pat's memory.
Thanks for the tips on the other stuff, T-Bone. I hadn't followed them much since the 80's or mid 90's, so I am intrigued by the Beatles and Tommy projects.
RIP, Pat. Thanks for all the tunes and memories!
