One, you pointed out something important. Medical advances will virtually stop under the your plan.
Two, "better" is relative, and situational. If you need some technologically advanced medical care you're out of luck elsewhere. But if you have a cold, O.K., Australia may be a good place.
There's no reason to think medical advances will stop. There's certainly plenty of money to be made in medical science. The reason that the US is the most technologically advanced is the same reason we're the most technologically advanced in many areas--the United States wasn't nearly destroyed by two World Wars in the 20th century the way most of the rest of the civilized world was.

Wrong. WW's effect on technology, let alone medical, have no impact now. It is about the reward system we have in place that motivates smart people to excel.

What do you think single payer will bring us? No private company is going to provide the nation's healthcare with the government being the single customer, unless they can be profitable, and to be profitable healthcare costs will skyrocket, and we'll go broke faster.
Then why do so many doctors and health providers accept Medicare and Medicare rates? And if rates drop so low that they impact the ability of patients to obtain health care, they and their families will have political avenues available to address the problem.

Moreover, private carriers have every incentive to deny care if they think they can get away with it. That's additional dollars they don't have to spend. Public carriers such as Medicare don't have that incentive, which probably has a lot to do with the enormous customer satisfaction it enjoys.

People will still want to be doctors for the same reason people still want to be teachers. And again, this concern is addressed by simply making Medicare available for all but allowing private carriers to compete. --Bob

You got stuck with that bridge you bought. You can quit trying to sell it to everyone else.

Canadians writing articles, perhaps. But those reading and commenting on them, not so much. Did you read the comment section of your article?

Translation of Flockspeak: My sources don't know the answer to that so I'll cover my ears and make a lot of noise (like #FAKE NEWS) and hope the problem (or Bob) goes away.
Once again, SSS - Stick it up your butt.

Of course, the people who decide to comment on an Internet article are a representative sample of the entire population of Canada.

Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks reveals he has prostate cancer

Rep. Brooks's father and grandfather both had prostate cancer. AFAIK they led good lives, so I doubt that quote reflects what Brooks really thinks. Best wishes for his recovery.

Kimmel is dead to us. We haven't watched him for several years.
