I WANNA BE A COWBOY, BOYS DON'T CRY?
SAVE A HORSE, RIDE A COWBOY, BIG & RICH?

I Wanna Be a Cowboy - Boys Don't Cry - THIS IS CORRECT

Absolutely correct. As me and Anon both noted, it's practically a staple in Frank's lyrics games lately...

Well, the last game, at least. I didn't want to reuse it, but it was too perfect to leave out.

I guess it just seems like it appears more often! I remember it in another game a while back, and it turns out those are the only three times you used it...

But the $64 question is still why it's in this particular game and "too perfect to leave out".

First, my apologies for the wrong Big and Rich guess. I was thinking of a part of the song that had some similar words to the clue, but obviously not correct.

I got to thinking about Pablo Cruise, which was basically a two-hit wonder in the US. I had sung their other big hit, "Whatcha Gonna Do?," in a talent show in high school. In my head, I answered myself: I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter. When I saw that that song was on the list, and then looked back at the title of the game again, I thought I had it. The final concept may still need some revising, but I think it's close enough to post:

An artist on the list had another hit with a song that asks a question. That question can be answered by another song on the list. Examples:

Do You Believe in Magic? (87. Lovin’ Spoonful) – 9. I’m a Believer

Should I stay or Should I go? (49. The Clash) – 76. Go Away Little Girl

Whatcha Gonna Do? (89. Pablo Cruise) – 44. I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter

Who’s Crying Now? (16. Journey) – 1. It Ain’t Me, Babe
For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled. -- Richard Feynman

This is brilliant on both Frank's end and your end, mrk!!! This is going to be fun if this turns out to be the theme, and I do believe you're correct...

littlebeast13 wrote:What Have You Done For Me Lately? (97. Janet Jackson) - 25. I've Done Everything For You
A pessimist would say 18. YOU HAVEN'T DONE NOTHIN’.

Same with Will You Love Me Tomorrow? (13. THE FOUR SEASONS) - 16. FAITHFULLY or 24. MAYBE

How Will I Know? (10. WHITNEY HOUSTON) has a bunch of answers.

I edited in a match for You Haven't Done Nothin' above...

It's easy to see why Frank said there'd probably be alternate answers, though...

I'm wondering if I'm A Believer would go better with Huey Lewis (Do You Believe In Love?) since they're both about love specifically?

I also think the better answer for this one is 55. It's Judy's Turn To Cry

Well, this takes a lot of pressure off of me because this was actually one of the concepts that I was working on for a Tangredi puzzle to be posted in 2019 under the title of "Daily Doubles" (in reference to Jeopardy!'s question format). Good to see that, once again, Frank's mind works the same way that mine does.

When I get home later, I'll pull out the sheet of paper that I had for "Daily Doubles" and look for any matches in this game that I also happen to have on my sheet.

New consolidation...

Identify the 100 songs below. Then, match them into 50 pairs according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself. No song will be used twice.

Yes, alternate pairs are not only possible, they are probable. But I think you’ll have no trouble working out the best – or, at least, the funnest – matches.

1. IT AIN’T ME BABE, BOB DYLAN, THE TURTLES, JOHNNY CASH or THE BYRDS
2. PURPLE HAZE, JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE

3. You know you love me, I know you care.
Just shout whenever and I'll be there.
You are my love, you are my heart
And we will never, ever, ever be apart.
BABY, JUSTIN BIEBER

4. LOVE IS ALL AROUND, THE TROGGS
5. PAPA WAS A ROLLIN' STONE, THE TEMPTATIONS
*6. I GOT A WOMAN, RAY CHARLES, ROY ORBISON or ELVIS PRESLEY

10. GREATEST LOVE OF ALL, GEORGE BENSON or WHITNEY HOUSTON
11. I WANNA BE A COWBOY, BOYS DON'T CRY

12. Oh, and, babe, I'm fist-fighting with fire
Just to get close to you.
Can we burn something, babe?
And I'll run for miles just to get a taste.
LOVE ON THE BRAIN, RIHANNA

13. BIG MAN IN TOWN, THE FOUR SEASONS
14. I WON'T DANCE, FRED ASTAIRE
15. THAT'S ALL, GENESIS

30. I don't care about your karma,
I don't care about what's hip,
No space cadet's gonna tell me what to do.
I won't swim in your Jacuzzi,
You can't make me settle down.
I'd rather kick and jump and bite and scratch
And scream until I'm blue.
I'LL BE MELLOW WHEN I'M DEAD, WEIRD AL YANKOVIC

31. VENUS, FRANKIE AVALON

32. You already made up your mind

Living isn't only a fantasy.

*33. LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING, THE FOUR ACES

34. So I got my boots on,

This may possibly be an alternate, but it fits well enough...

Maybe this goes with What's Your Name? (8. Lynyrd Skynyrd) - 83. I'm Henry The 8th I Am

Revisiting this one yet again, 58. You Can Call Me Al slightly fits the question "What's Your Name?" better than "I'm Henry the 8th I Am"... the latter of which would work better with "Who Are You?" only I can't imagine we're missing a song by The Who...

Culture Club has to be here for "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" I took a peek at the unknowns, but nothing matched up. So this is the best that I got for it...

Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? (47. Culture Club) - 96. You Always Hurt the One You Love

Though this would be a great one to attach "Maybe" to....

"Maybe" could go with "Are You Experienced?" (2 Jimi Hendrix)
