Mama's Caribbean Odyssey Day 11

#1 Post by a1mamacat » Mon May 19, 2008 10:49 pm

Thursday March 20, 2008 Day 11 – A day at Sea
Enroute to Miami.

Well, reality sets in. No more islands, no more shopping duty free, no more “lady do you need a guide I am a good guide full island tour 3 hours 10.00 each you see I know all the good spots.”

Got up early anyway. Still a little rough, so Mom stayed in bed later. I met Janet and Al in Horizon’s, the only area indoors that you could smoke, and we had coffee and pastries. Very sad not to be watching ourselves docking in a port. Lots to do on board today though, there was a Diamond Seminar at 10:00, a cooking demonstration at 11:30, and of course the pool.

We headed to the pool, and got some prime lounges, and settled in. There was a lot of activity by the crew, trying to get some preliminary work done for cleanup. Still, Erasmus didn’t fail me, and a Tropical Cocktail appeared at my elbow (151 rum, Apricot Brandy, Lemon Juice, Grenadine). We talked and reminisced about our various trips, and we decided that the Dolphin Encounter and Snorkle were the two best.

Janet and Al have a large property in North Carolina, with horses and wilderness and lots of cats. ( I dint ask about Evil Squirrels, sorry Annie) Big J and I have a standing invite to visit, and Janet says Al will take Big J out on a hike and walk the snot right out of him.

Tempting, very tempting…..

About 4 pm, we headed in to prepack, shower, and get ready for dinner. We made plans to meet up, and we had a wonderful time. We went to the Terrace and had a wide assortment of items, sushi, salads, hot and cold meats, breads, veggies, and…oh JOY OF JOYS – the CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN RETURNED!!!!

After supper we went to the Lounge to hear Vincenzo play again. We had become well acquainted with him, and he is as charming and pleasant as his music is. He inscribed one of his CD’s for me and I am so enjoying listening to him. He doesn’t sing, it’s all instrumental guitar.

He finished playing around 11:00 pm, and we all headed to the lounge for a nightcap.

Another wonderful day to add to the memory wall.

I am feeling sadness that the trip is coming to an end.
