Scientists have discovered "ultraconservative" genes with genome sequences that are identical in humans and mice, meaning that, if one accepts the theory of evolution and the age of life on our planet, that they have not evolved over millions of years, a statistical virtual impossibility.
The only likely explanation would be that the sequence is somehow vital to survival, but the experiments so far have not verified this. Other explanations are that the deleterious effects only show up over time (they've only been monitoring test mice for a few months), or that there is a backup sequence which prevents the ill effects (which would still not explain why the sequences hadn't, by sheer chance, evolved).

This does show that scientists are constantly questioning the theory of evolution and will keep testing and experimenting until they can explain seeming anomalies like this....
.... or there will someday be a major change in the theory.

Must not be any programmers among that group of scientists.
The programmers I know would not be surprised at all to hear of a core set of sequences that have the evolution switch turned off by default.
