Yay! herjosie's official TV debut.

$8K: I think that both Facebook and MySpace began while their respective founders were in college. I'll ask the audience.
BBTranscriptTeam wrote:A-19% B-38% C-14% D-29%
Gee, thanks a lot, audience. But I'll go along with Facebook anyway, since Tom Anderson doesn't look that young.

$16K: No clue on this one. Not sure if Nancy has ever seen this movie, so I'm gonna PAF.

$25K: Although mythology is a weak area for me, I knew this one immediately.

$50K: Auguste Rodin. A-Rod. Final. Next!

$100K: I got this one immediately. IIRC, Nigeria is the only African country with a population of over 100 million... and it's also one of the fastest growing countries in the world.

So I'd be going for $250K with DD and ATE.

I thought this was a terribly undervalued question. The only founder of any of these companies I could name off-hand is Sergey Brin of Google (and he now calls himself the "President of Technology"--I believe Google went with a more experienced businessperson to be CEO). Maybe Facebook users are familiar with its CEO, but I doubt many others have heard of him or her.

OK, she's a WE® but she's also a teacher so we'll root for her anyway.

Good for Nancy! I used the same reasoning. I wouldn't have needed the lifelines, though.

OK, I've seen the movie once but didn't remember this. Time to ATA.

OK, this is a bad question. Atlas was not a god - he was a Titan, and brother of Prometheus and Epimetheus (who married Pandora). Titans weren't gods (in the sense of the Greek pantheon, the Olympians).

My first thought turned out to be correct, but in Lori's place I'd have gone to the PAF lifeline for a sanity check.

ATA at $16K. Never seen the movie.

Nice gift from CVS. They have the most reasonable prices around here among the major "drugstore" chains.

No other problemos to $100K, where the timer might cause me to panic. Would probably ATE, knowing who my Expert is, though from the comfort of my home chair, I got the right answer.

Another big payday for a teacher. Good.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

He's been in the news quite a bit.

It was great that Nancy used some good reasoning to help the contestant, but I agree that this was a tough question for this level. Zuckerberg has certainly been in the news and for awhile Facebook was even limited to college students. I thought similarly to Nancy but had some other relevant thoughts too. Brin and Page of Google are very famous and are solidly in their 30s. I was able to eliminate them immediately. I had thought MySpace had been around for a bit longer, so the CEO was unlikely to still be just 24. Wasn't really sure about YouTube, but would have pulled the trigger on Facebook.

The questions from there on seemed to just be meat and potatoes types. If I were in the chair and was faced that $100K question, the smile on my face would have stretched from one end of the studio to the other. The 10 most populous countries in the world is one of those lists that I just absorbed at some point. Although it keeps changing slightly, I would have been very confident that Nigeria was the only African country on that list. Most of them are in Asia with the exceptions of USA (#3), Brazil (#5) and Nigeria (#8).
