I missed today's show. The stupid TV station showed a rerun from last season-the one with the firefighter who wanted to retire to Hawaii.

$4K-I love tilapia. It's one of my favorite kinds of fish.

$16K-never saw the movie. ATA here.

$25K-PaF my brother-he used to work at a bank (in the mortgage department) so he should know this one.

$50K-I think I read this somewhere. EZ.

$100K-Explorers-Ack! I can never remember who discovered what or what ship they used. ATE.
I'm just a game show nerd.

good stack for the contestant with lots of "wordy" stuff. Must have been a bit of a battle for a few seconds at least in his head at the final level, with only two English (British) explorers on the list, and a ship name that is English. Of course, one could have translated from another language, but would one? PTB got in any case their wish of a strong contestant sweating for a few seconds.

Fictional families might have favored him at 250K but could have come from comic strip, TV, advertising or another source a creative writing teacher might not himself favour.

I guess Tom hasn't seen any of those ads for "free credit reports" (that aren't really free).

And again the expert fails to come through. Time to send him to the showers and bring in the reliever.

Amazing - I'd have been going for $250K with all lifelines remaining.

I never saw "The Big Lebowski", so that's gonna be a stumbling block.

$16K: Ask the audience.

$100K: I can eliminate da Gama, but I have to phone a friend.

$16K: ATA for me. Pop culture is a real mixed bag for me. Some information is retained, other stuff just skips off the bald dome and back off into mediaspace.

$25K: Sign of the times that such a large majority of the audience knows that much detail about credit scores.

$50K: Had the right answer, but in The Chair, I'm not sure I would have gambled with three lifelines left. Let's assume I used PAF here.

$100K: And another one where I knew the answer, but the time constraints might have gotten me. PAF if I didn't use it on the $50K, DD otherwise.

I'd accept looking at $250K with a lifeline left, even if it's only the crapshoot that is known as ATE. Potential of having three LLs if I'd been gutsy enough.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

O.K. I found the first names of the two contestants yesterday to be highly amusing. :)

Coincidental doesn't make it ironic.

If their names had been "Jacob" and "Marley", that would be ironic.

I changed it, though I think that "Jacob" and "Marley" also are not so much irony.

Plus, it goes beyond just the names.

No, you're right. Deliberate torture would not be not ironic.
