The Mother Of All Bored History Quizzes!

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Nov 23, 2007 8:18 am

Today is, of course, the eighth anniversary of the creation of The Bored As We Know It. Of course, I use that term because the Bored actually did exist as far back as August of 1999 when WWTBAM first went on the air, but that Bored came crashing down in the flames of a hacker attack, and the reborn Bored with whatever posts could be salvaged from the wreckage went back online on this day 8 years ago.

Since I usually try to do something special to celebrate the occasion, I decided to create a Bored history quiz. OK, so this is a bit more than a quiz, but what better way to celebrate our Bored than with a plethora of questions from its rich history!

Of course, the majority of the questions concern events from the Bored's first two years, and I did this over the course of several weeks, so hopefully I didn't repeat any questions. I also didn't get one of my patented doozy questions at the end.... I just stopped writing questions when I got tired and exhausted most of the resourses I have available....

So, if you have nothing to do on this wonderful Black Friday, test your Bored history IQ! Or just stand back and shake your head that I would even create such a monstrosity....

It's not a monstrosity - and I went through and answered the questions, but then for some reason when I posted my answers I was taken to a login screen and couldn't go back to save what I had so painstakingly typed. I'm not going through it a second time.

I can't wait to see this answered in its entirety. There are so many things I don't know about the Bored, its history, its acroynms, its previous participants, etc. Even after posting for 4 1/2 years, there are often times I feel like an outsider.

Dude, lb, thanks, bro.

I couldn't even begin to answer most of the questions.

I guess the football blow-outs yesterday left you with a lot of free time.

It's was fun rying to remember.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

Wow, that's a lot of questions! Although I found the bored in the spring of 2000 just shortly before the creation of the GC I spent most of my time at the clubhouse in the GC until the last two or three years ago and don't have a clue about most of these questions.

Maybe 1 and 5 are B but that is about the extent of my guessing in the early going.

There are two answers. Tubadave did for a while and then his real life got busy and I did about 2 month's worth under the handle Transcriptmeister, but with one of the i's altered because the handle with the normal i was already taken by Tubadave. Then Tubadave came back but got busy again and then the Transcript team was formed. Everyone used to post them under their own handles until I suggested using one handle to make it easier to find the transcripts.

So what's the cosmic significance of having 253 questions, beast? :)

I'm overwhelmed by this test and couldn't begin to answer more than a tiny percentage of them. But reading this brings back many fond memories.

Instead of just waiting until beast gives us the answers, perhaps we could work on this collectively, the way they do those elaborate games on the GC?

To set the record straight, what really happened was that I fired off an e-mail to abc asking that jamesbriangriffin's vulgar post be deleted. Some of them were outright lewd. Instead she deleted every post of mine. Goes to show I should mind my own business

I tried to get this as a spoiler, more than once, if it doesn't work this time, too bad

Hey Beast?

Have I told you lately that you really need to get a life?

:P

That is just amazing.

I don't think I am the answer to any, but thanks for including me in as a distractor!

I am going to try to get one or two, but that is probably all I have a chance at.

The significance is that's how many questions I was at when I finally decided to quit trying to dig up more questions!

It will probably be at least a week before I go through it again to post the answers, so if anyone wants to tackle it by themselves, or as a team, go for it. I will say that the vast majority of the answers to these questions could be found if one knows all the places to look for them....

I believe the Bored Game was always in open book format....

I can remember a lot of Bored Game questions that were basically in scavenger hunt form....
