WalMart empty this afternoon ...

#1 Post by dimmzy » Fri Nov 23, 2007 2:14 pm

Nephew, two siblings, 78-year-old mother and I ventured out to WalMart and Kmart this afternoon. Stores were deserted. Checkout clerks were talking in a group. Do-do-DO-do ...

Had to explain to mum what an iPod was. I guess she got the concept because she said, "Oh, I guess I could put Dad's polka records on it!"

I am not sad about this.

If Curcuit City was empty - that would make me sad.

Woodbury Commons stores opened at 12 midnight. I had a young patient tell me she worked the 12-7am shift today, and that it was busy the entire time.

There is nothing I could buy that would make me shop at 4 in the morning, i think
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to Lurk i go!

Leah's working a noon-midnight shift today. I think her mall opened at 6AM but she got the closing shift instead of opening.

I have never shopped on Black Friday. I have almost always worked (in health care, not retail.) The only year I didn't work was 2005 -- when I had the broken foot & was on crutches for 4 months! But I sure as hell didn't shop, either! (I think that was the year I really discovered online shopping  )

I went to Borders to pick up Luxe for Maddie and I am America (And So Can You!) for Emma and I had no wait, which is really unusual for my local store. Next I went to Bev Mo to pick up some Delirium Tremens beer and St. Germain Elderflower liqueur and once again there was no line. The longest line was at CVS pharmacy, but I only had to wait for one person.

My mom needed a few things at WalMart, so we went about 6:30 this evening. The place was fairly quiet. I guess everybody got up at 4 am to do their shopping and now are all either (a) tired or (b) done with the shopping.
I'm just a game show nerd.

Thursday afternoon we saw people camped out at Best Buys for the Friday morning sales.

That is so not what I'd like to do on Thanksgiving.

I saw a t-shirt today that read:

"I'm going 33RPM in an iPod world"

My father often tells me he has low-defintion eyes so why should he buy a high defintion TV.

Why are they making television sets better and better while making television programming worse and worse?
