Novel Update
From lb's mega-quiz:
248. What is the title of the novel vandalrmc began writing 2 years ago?
Answer: The Memory Box
I am in the part of the journey known as Submission Hell. I have a list a potential agents and I eagerly queried a bunch of them and waited for the good news.
And waited. Nope.
So I sent out more and waited.
And waited. The rejections piled up and up and up.
Nothing.
Then I tweaked my query letter and tried again.
After 50+ rejections I got a nibble and sent a partial manuscript (50 pages) out to a major agent. I haven't heard back from him, yet, but it takes time.
A few days ago I got another nibble from an agent who read the first chapter. Send us 100 pages, pronto. Yes, ma'am.
Yet another agent wanted to know how I came up the idea for this crazy story, so I told her the tale. If all goes well, she'll want to read the whole thing (which is the ultimate goal). I can wait, I'm good at that.
There are still agents on my list, so I'm still sending it out there.
It's a big pond.
Meanwhile, I'm past the 5,000 word mark on novel #2. That's how it's done. Send out one manuscript, then write another, better one.
Just for the heck of it, I entered The Memory Box into the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest and made it past the first round (which means I didn't screw up the submission). The next cut is Jan 15.
So I'm writing.
And waiting.
And hoping.
(Sounds like a Buddy Holly song.)
Maybe Baby.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

Vandal wrote a novel. Now he's trying to get it published. What other details do you want?cindy.wellman wrote:This is an interesting thread, but I'm missing a lot of what originally happened. Could someone fill me in with the details?
I think he's discussed the subject of the book before, but that post was lost when the TUB sank.
