Another day, another Q2 flameout. This time elwing's nemesis was pop music.

Q1. Put these words in order to form the name of a US National Monument.
1 - moon
2 - craters
3 - the
4 - of
Spoiler
2431
Q2. Put these songs in chronological order by the date they were first released.
1 - Don't Ask Why
2 - Smooth
3 - Abracadabra
4 - Achy Breaky Heart
Spoiler
elwing guessed 3412, not knowing any of the songs except 4. I knew 2 and 4 and had a guess at 3, but 1 was one I'd never heard of, either. Using Spock's Law, it should either be first or last, so my guess would have been 3421. Turns out there are two songs (different lyrics) by the name of "Don't Ask Why", one by Alan Jackson and one by Vanessa Hudgens, released in different years, so I don't know which one they wanted.

1. Jackie Kennedy
2. Eleanor Roosevelt
3. Hilary Clinton

Q4: Arrange these words in order of the number referred to in their root, lowest first

1. Tricycle
2. Unicorn
3. Quart
4. Decade
Spoiler
2134
Q5: Put these flours (thought flowers, until ...) in order of their gluten content, lowest to highest.

1. All purpose flour
2. Cake flour
3. Pastry flour
4. Bread

NFC. Took a stab, got it inside out. Even GW the baker didn't get it right when I told her about it.
Spoiler
2314. I hit 1423.
I will accept getting to Q5, as long as I get past it tomorrow. But boy my heart was pounding when I heard the continuation to Q5.

Fred does speak faster. I can barely read my scrawls. Didn't have time to write entire words. Podiatrist and optometrist came out as "pod" and "opt".
I googled about flour this morning, learned the higher the protein the higher the gluton -

Bread is 12 to 14 percent protein
Pastry is 8 to 10 percent
Cake is 6 to 8 percent
All Purpose is 10 to 12 percent

so the answer would be 2, 3, 4, 1

helps to remember if you have an explanation as to why, would never have known without googling, seems the higher the protein the tougher the flour.

Hmmm, I am not sure of the relative ranking of all purpose and bread flour. I know that when making bread, if you don't specifically have bread flour you can use all purpose flour, you just add additional gluten. Which I keep in the refridgerator (icebox for some here).

I was thinking about the structure of the items being made. So cake would have the airiest (less structure) then pastry then all purpose then bread.

But who knows what TNPGPTB wanted.

Edit, wait, I think you just typed the numbers wrong. By protien it would be 2,3,1,4.

Wasn't there one where you could be called for up to three months? Or was that for a set of shows that ran for three months? My old PIN has a notation of "Jun-Aug". No idea when it was from.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Yes, that was in the spring of 2001(?), when TPTB implemented the PPP. You got five right and you would simply be in the PPP and could get a call for any tape date, IIRC -- and there was no OTC.

This is the only one from last night I can read my notes on. It was Q4:

Put these parts of a violin in order, starting at the base:

1. Peg
2. Fingerboard
3. Bridge
4. Tailpiece
Spoiler
4321, which I did a double take at, because I remembered thinking they never do 4321, and I think I took too long to get the answer in, or I fat-fingered. Anyway, that's as far as I got.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Oh, yeah, I guess that's a precedent.

IIRC, if they picked you from the PPP, they'd actually leave a message and give you a chance to call back. It wasn't one of these "miss this call and you're SOL" deals.

My stack from last night:

1. I can't read my scribble, but it was a nickname.... easy one.

2. Put these parts of an upright guitar in order starting at the top:

1. Bridge
2. Sound hole
3. Head something or another
4. Neck

3,4,2,1

3. Put these Steven King novels (oh shit) in order, starting from the earliest:

1. The Shining
2. Misery
3. Bones (?)
4. Carrie

4,1,2,3

4. Put these article of clothing in order of the country they were originated starting in the Atlantic Ocean and going East :

1. Bra
2. Kimono
3. Parka
4. Bolero

I think I put: 3,1,4,2 I have no idea what the right answer is, but that was a way fucked up question.

Here's some other questions I had last night:

Ad slogan:

1. Right
2. Chicken
3. Do
4. We

4,3,2,1 (there seems to be alot of 4,3,2,1 responses)

Put these singers in order, starting with the oldest:

1. Missy Elliot (never heard of her)
2. Lenny Kravitz
3. Stevie Nicks
4. Boy George

Put these events in the life of ROBERT Kennedy in order:

1. Candidate for President
2. Something about being a senator
3. Something about being a senator
4. Becoming Attorney General

I'm sure either 2 or 3 was about heping JFK be a senator and the other was about him becoming senator, but I didn't right down enough info when Fred was speed reading and therefore couldn't answer the question correctly.

One of mine was 4321. It gave me a pause and I double checked, luckily quickly enough and that what was deemed okay.

ButI was not able to reproduce that sound and nothing like that has happened before. So now I have two strikes and I'm worried that my phone is flaky. Thinking about using another phone tonight.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Very happy for Sprots and Beast joining the OTC bunch.

I haven't been invited to the party. I got this for Q1:

Put these words in order to form the name of a famous trade comapny:

1) India
2) East
3) ENGLISH
4) Company

It's British, yes? Hearing English instead of British threw me off just enough that by the time I recovered and started pushing the buttons, Sad Fred was telling me that the parade had passed by. This was unsettlingly similar to my first FF question from my RoF appearance back in the day, when a choice I foolishly anticipated did not wind up being one of the choices. Not a good omen..I think I'm psyching myself out

Wow, and I thought I was the only one screwed up by doing that.......

As posted elsewhere, just two questions tonight.

Q1) Leave Well Enough Alone

Q2) Put these clothing companies in order by when they were founded, starting with the earliest:

1. something that sounded like it started with B that I had never heard of
2. Gucci
3. Guess
4. Levi Strauss

The inability to identify the first one proved fatal. I tried 1-4-2-3, but that didn't work.
Spoiler
Gucci was 1921, Guess was 1981 and Levi Strauss was 1853, so the 4-2-3 part of my answer was right......
