Lyrically Speaking - 1/21/10
It's been almost a full year now since I was unceremoniously kicked out of the governor's office in Illinois, so I've had a lot of time on my hands lately.... most of which I've used to plan my Presidential campaign in 2012. Hey, you can only get so much for state appointments.... the big cash is to be had at the federal level, baby!!! I'm sure my buddy the O Man will gladly step aside and let a real showman and shyster be the country's lead man. I just need to get the full backing of SSS, and I'm all set....
And since LB did was kind enough to actually vote for me in 2006, I figured the least I could do for him was host this stupid little game of his today. If he had slid me some cash under the table, I might have spruced it up a bit and added some of my own killer songs from my iPod...... come on, come on, LISTEN to the money talk! Oh... sorry!
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme, and the JJC points are gonna cost you all this time.... please send cash only!
1. The sun goes down
The night rolls in
You can feel it starting all over again
The moon comes up
And the music calls
You're getting tired of staring at the same four walls
2. Daddy wrestles alligators
Mama works on carburetors
Her brother is a fine mediator
For the president
3. I'm in the hi-fidelity, first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet
4. They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But Lord, there's just got to be a better way
5. Little child, did you know that there's a light,
And it's gonna shine right through your eyes.
What do you think that life is like?
6. City streets and lonely highways I've traveled down
My car is empty
And the radio just seems to bring me down
I'm just tryin' to find me a pretty smile that I can get into
It's true
I'm lost without you
7. The crops we grew last summer weren't enough to pay the loans
Couldn't buy the seed to plant this spring and the Farmers Bank foreclosed
8. We passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there, he said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone, a long long time ago
9. Lord, I'm so tired!
How long can this go on?
10. I have done all that I could
To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can
11. So when you need a little peace of mind
Come on over boy, anytime
I'll keep you happy and so satisfied
12. Asked a girl what she wanted to be
She said baby, can't you see
I wanna be famous, a star on the screen
But you can do something in between
13. Oh, I had a dream
for a moment I believed it was true
oh, I'd have given anything
just to be there with you
are you hiding
somewhere behind those eyes?
14. Well we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
15. Love can be so heartless when you turn out the lights,
a mutual surrender in the heat of the night.
Life's an empty picture when you're living alone,
well, maybe that's the reason every heart needs a home.
16. We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat
From our hats to our feet
And surprise them with the victory cry
Theme?

1. The sun goes down
The night rolls in
You can feel it starting all over again
The moon comes up
And the music calls
You're getting tired of staring at the same four walls
You belong to the city, Eagles
Rain on the Scarecrow, Mellencamp
You must help me if you can
Doctor My Eyes, Jackson Browne
11. So when you need a little peace of mind
Come on over boy, anytime
I'll keep you happy and so satisfied
12. Asked a girl what she wanted to be
She said baby, can't you see
I wanna be famous, a star on the screen
But you can do something in between
Drive my car, Beatles
13. Oh, I had a dream
for a moment I believed it was true
oh, I'd have given anything
just to be there with you
are you hiding
somewhere behind those eyes?
14. Well we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
15. Love can be so heartless when you turn out the lights,
a mutual surrender in the heat of the night.
Life's an empty picture when you're living alone,
well, maybe that's the reason every heart needs a home.
16. We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat
From our hats to our feet
And surprise them with the victory cry
Theme?
Kroxquo Bonus (2 points): Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.
5 Point Bonus: Which of the songs above was once used (ironically I always thought) in a commercial for Walmart*?
I'll guess Drive my car.

Governor Blago
Oh... sorry!
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme, and the JJC points are gonna cost you all this time.... please send cash only!

for a moment I believed it was true
oh, I'd have given anything
just to be there with you
are you hiding
somewhere behind those eyes?
14. Well we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
15. Love can be so heartless when you turn out the lights,
a mutual surrender in the heat of the night.
Life's an empty picture when you're living alone,
well, maybe that's the reason every heart needs a home.
16. We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat
From our hats to our feet
And surprise them with the victory cry
"Safety Dance" - Men Without Hats
Theme?
NAFC, so I'll just say Rod Blagojevich
Kroxquo Bonus (2 points): Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.
Hard to do that without knowing the theme. I'll WAG "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung.
5 Point Bonus: Which of the songs above was once used (ironically I always thought) in a commercial for Walmart*?
Don't remember, but maybe "Safety Dance"

5. Little child, did you know that there's a light,
And it's gonna shine right through your eyes.
What do you think that life is like?
Song of the Child Who Was Born Without Any Actual Brain Tissue, So Light Shines Right Through Their Head/Poor Brainless Child

Songs About Eyes
Kroxquo Bonus (2 points): Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.
Keep Your Eyes On The Prize/I'll say the Clara Ward Singers may have sung it; its an African American gospel song; also the title of a series you would not have watched, as your sets don't get PBS (Walmart makes sure of that)
5 Point Bonus: Which of the songs above was once used (ironically I always thought) in a commercial for Walmart*?
I'm not sure you actually know the meaning of "irony", so in this case I actually am clueless since that info above was supposed to be part of a clue; also, not being someone who hangs out at Walmart if I can help it, because they are an Evil Corporation (of course!), I may not have ever heard the song in question, anyway
