Almost got Casey a sis . . .

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:27 pm

SteelersFan found a darling puppy over in Nonpodunk County and we were within millimeters of adopting her -- mostly Australian Shepherd, the rest who knows what, about 12 weeks old, about 10 pounds.

However, MatiasDad has been looking for a pooch to take hiking, and he wanted to adopt a smart, loyal, affectionate, working breed girl puppy in time for hiking season this year, and SteelersFan happily handed over the adoption papers.

Her name will probably be Joey -- Jo for Sweetheart, Joey for the Australian part. I lobbied for Sydney but was outvoted.

My original Subject Line was "Missed it by **that** much. . ."

Apologies to all who thought it was about the Butler game.

Congrats to Duke fans -- great game!

Puppies are way cute. Casey has a cousin, which is almost as good.

Joey and Matias will be bestest buds, I'm sure!

But Matias better explain to Joey that he also has a bunch of squirrel BFFs.

I have a feeling me and Joey are going to be bestest of buds!

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

You and Joey are not going to be the bestest of buds! Just like you and Matias are not the bestest of buds, no matter how many pictures you draw!

Good grief!

For a day or two anyway, my temporary avatar features MatiasDad and Joey. She's such a doll! Vet says she'll probably end up around 30 pounds. I think she'll be closer to 25, but who knows.

LOL! The no scritches rule applies to ES and other mangy rodents.

Not to beautiful Joey -- I scritched her plenty on the way home from Nonpodunk County.

And SteelersFan continues his streak as adjunct to the Nonpodunk County Humane Society . . .

i do not spend any time with any mangy rodents. For those of you keeping score, that means ES.

I will never spend any time with ES.

Nothing that ES has will ever rub off on me, including mange. OK, especially mange.

Good grief.
