Gina Steimle
St. Louis, MO
Bartender

A infobox on the screen says that Gina is "a bartender who can drink beer with her feet." Rather than pursue this fascinating line of dialogue, Gina goes straight for the questions.

$100 - When speaking to their children, parents often euphemistically refer to sex as "the birds and the" what?

A - bees
B - wasps
C - mosquitoes
D - Viagra commercials

$200 - The two ends of a bar magnet are commonly known as its north and south what?

A - coasts
B - hands
C - poles
D - wings

$300 - Rice Krispies Treats are a classic snack made by mixing melted butter and marshmallows with several cups of what?

A - ice cream
B - popcorn
C - licorice
D - cereal

Gina loves this question because it's so easy. But then she almost llamas by saying "C" then catching herself as the audience gasps. She says "My bad!" and repeats "Cereal, cereal, cereal, cereal, D - cereal" several times before making it her final answer.

$500 - What 1990s action flick was popularly described as "'Die Hard' on a bus"?

A - Speed
B - The Fugitive
C - Air Force One
D - The Rock

$1K - Which of these familiar names belongs to a fictional character?

A - Ali MacGraw
B - Ali Baba
C - Muhammad Ali
D - Ali Larter

Commercial break

Meredith says that Gina is a bartender but she's been serving Gina some pretty good questions.

$2K - A nod to the fact that it's not very strong, a square knot that's tied incorrectly is often known by what tongue-in-cheek nickname?

A - turkey knot
B - dummy knot
C - sissy knot
D - granny knot

Gina has no idea so she's going to have to ask the audience.

ATA results:
A - 1%
B - 16%
C - 17%
D - 66%

Gina says that's pretty good and makes that her final answer.

$4K - In 2007, Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron's historic home run record while playing for what Major League Baseball team?

A - San Francisco Giants
B - Seattle Mariners
C - Los Angeles Dodgers
D - Oakland Athletics

Gina says, "Sports, no, not at all." But she thinks she knows this one. And she does.

Commercial break

Gina is a game show junkie and loves them in general. She was on a version of Trivial Pursuit with Wink Martindale. She placed third out of nine and won a Shop-vac and $200 worth of leotards and sports bras.

$8K - Also called a longshoreman, which of these job titles refers to someone who loads and unloads ships?

A - crocker
B - wainwright
C - hayward
D - stevedore

Gina has a pretty good idea but wants to use the 50/50 anyway. A and D are the remaining choices. Gina's answer is still there - Meredith asks but it takes a few moments for Gina to reply. She makes "D" her final answer since that's the one she was considering. After Meredith tells her she's right, Gina says, "It's much harder when you're in the Hot Seat."

$16K - Before joining "The View" in 2007, comedian Sherri Shepherd played a sassy cop on what sitcom?

A - Two and a Half Men
B - Everybody Loves Raymond
C - The King of Queens
D - According to Jim

Gina loves The View and did so when Meredith was on the show. Meredith jokes that the show hasn't been the same since, then notes that it went up in the ratings after she left. She's over that now, she says, as the audience laughs. Gina had never seen Sherri Shepherd before her stint on "The View" so Gina uses her phone-a-friend lifeline. She has "the perfect lifeline" for this question, and asks to call her friend Angie. Gina reads the question then the answers (in the order A-C-B-D). Angie asks her to repeat the question and Gina does, running out of time before Angie can answer. Gina told her AP that pop culture wasn't her strongest suit. She has no idea and decides to walk away with her $8K.

THE HORN!!!!!

A new contestant will start the climb up the ladder on Monday.

ANSWERS:

Would have needed help on $16K. ATA would be my first choice. Pop culture-they would probably be able to answer this one.
I'm just a game show nerd.

I wish they had discussed this - perhaps they might have if Gina had stayed in the Hot Seat longer.

She came very close to dursting herself on this.

Any Boy Scout knows the answer to this one.

Uh-oh, time to cue the ominous organ music...

I had no idea that "The View" had added yet another co-host. However even though I have no idea who Sherri Shepherd is, I can figure this one out. "Everybody Loves Raymond" is the only one of the four shows that has a police officer as a recurring character (Ray's brother Robert), so it makes sense that that would be the right answer.
