previous summary notes
It sounded like he knew or at least thought that Pride and Prejudice was by Jane Austen. He said it is the obvious one but it might not be the obvious one so maybe he assumed all four of them were by Jane Austen.
Anyway, while his companion grimaced, he went with A final answer and dropped to $1000. Maybe if he knew the unrandomized level he would have realized it was simply asking which of four works by four different authors were by Jane Austen.

I don't recall hearing of this recipe, before. Wikipedia categorizes these as English cuisine and Christmas food. Are they common anywhere else? :?

I play a board game called "China Rails" and Lhasa is one of the cities in the game, counted as part of China, not Tibet.

I'd use a lifeline here also - probably JTQ. I've never heard of this "delicacy".

Yeah, this couldn't have been very hard since only one of the four is by Austen.

Didn't know they were of English extraction, but they've been on the hors d'oeuvres circuit for some time, as have "Angels on Horseback" (bacon-wrapped oysters).
