Article about an upcoming contestant

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Thu Feb 10, 2011 10:14 am

Steve Ogden, a firefighter from St. Louis, appears at the Hot Podium on Tuesday.

http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/colu ... 2bc8b.html
Ogden, 60, a Kirkwood native, did not follow the normal path of firefighters. He joined the academy at age 48 and, when he was stationed at Engine Company 31 in St. Louis Hills, the average age of the other cadets was 25.

He is known as the "old new guy" at the firehouse and is popular with the young crew because of his cooking expertise. Ogden is the station's head chef and likes cooking so much that he competes in local competitions where he is noticeable because he is NOT wearing chef's whites -- he wears a kilt and a fire helmet while he cooks.

I saw him briefly in the green room - he was a holdover from the day before of people who didn't tape. He was very likeable.

Can't imagine what his audition hook was.

Since I haven't received a confirmation email from TPTB regarding the initial tentative airdate they gave me, I've been suspecting that my appearance had been pushed back. This confirms it - this gentleman taped the day before I did, so we wouldn't appear the same week. With next week evidently being movie week, who knows when I'll be on.

I'm OK with it, but everyone else I know is getting pissed

Double grumble (since they are free for the taking.) That makes it a little longer until all of us get to watch vettech's show, and that much longer until vettech gets her money. (It may seem like a lot longer to her!)
Now generating the White Hot Glare of Righteousness on behalf of BBs everywhere.
