"Come On Eileen" was selected as the "class song" for my law school class.

A perfectly-bad one hit wonder song.

The question would have been better had they worked the Going My Way angle instead.

You mean "one of the greatest songs EVER!", right?

Funny coincidence. Saturday night, out of the blue, my nephew asks me if I know how "that Eileen song" goes. I immediately broke into song, my sister joined in and then we started in on the Dexy dance.

I never did ask him why he wanted to know. I just hope there isn't some new girl named Eileen in his class and he was planning on using it for nefarious purposes.

There is a version by a ska group called Save Ferris, with a female lead, that changes the way you look at the song. For one thing, you can understand a few more of the words....

It is nearly as enjoyable as the original, in a different way.

I also enjoyed the Save Ferris version.

Another future game show contestant (one-day champ on Jeopardy, winner on Debt, and maybe another show) and I spearheaded the nostaglia movement for "Eileen". We also wanted to get Billy Zabka as the commencement speaker for the entire university, but they went with Chip Davis instead.

$16K: It's not taciturn, for sure. PAF on this one.

He almost talked himself into a wrong answer on this one.

Never heard the song but figured it would be the one with "Eileen" in the title, since it sounded the most Irish.

I watched him answer this question and experienced a sad sense of deja vu.

I felt so proud that I actually knew a vocabulary question.

Ironic that this may be the only payoff for adding Latin to his quadruple major.
