Very nice that a real fan has been given a shot. But I think you added an extra zero to that number of people auditioning.McDonnell, who auditioned for the program in New York the day before her 50th birthday, says she is an avid fan.
“We watch it all the time,” she says, “and so one day I went online to see how to become a contestant. You have to pay your own way to the audition — hotel, airfare, everything. So my birthday was coming up and my husband and I decided to make a vacation out of it.”
“It was an amazing birthday treat,” she says. “They told us that something like 300,000 people audition every year and only 300 get a spot.”
