"That will be edited, I'm sure." She adds, "I don't think you can say that on television." Meredith is trying hard not to break out laughing. "Rebecca, you know I really need this job," she says. "I'm in graduate school, not in medical school. That much I know." Rebecca is pretty sure that

I wonder how many LS Meisters have used this one.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.

I can ALMOST understand not remembering the name of the General (althought this is probably the single most famous event of the Battle of the Bulge), but not even recognizing the name of the battle itself???

I have heard a couple times that McAuliffe's reply was actually somewhat less, um, suitable for family audiences, and it was sanitized for public consumption. I do not know if he actually said 'Nuts!' or, um, something else, but it is interesting either way. And something everyone should know about.
Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.

That flummoxed us, too.

We just looked at each other. Boonie went on a small rant - understandable.

I have. I needed one of their songs to make it an official game.

There were a number of Merry Man shoutouts in this stack.

One of my favorite war stories. Wikipedia refers to this account by a general who was there: "NUTS!" Revisited
McAuliffe then wrote down: "To the German Commander, "Nuts!" The American Commander."

The German major then asked, "Is the reply negative or affirmative?"

"If you don't know what 'Nuts' means, in plain English it is the same as 'Go to Hell'. And I'll tell you something else, if you continue to attack we will kill every goddam German that tries to break into this city."

They must be getting close to the end of the taping season because so many NYCers are getting on.

I can understand her not knowing the name, but never hearing of the battle? What do they teach in school these days?

The clip is available on YouTube - it's really funny.

But I think that Rebecca may have been thrown off by this so that she didn't get the right answer. I did note that neither she nor Meredith said "Uranus" again during the segment. As for me, I would not have thought this would be the most difficult question in the stack.

On the positive side, that one clip has probably now been uploaded to YouTube more times than any $0 'llama' moment from the original and clock formats.
Yay for the shuffle format. :)

Why does the shuffle format get credit for an inadvertant Uranus joke?
