Randy Rice
Port Washington, NY
Barista

Bank: $11,500
No lifelines
Brought his girlfriend, his band mates, and his mom (she was shown later)

Randy's girlfriend Kelly does not like that his hair is longer than hers.
Randy originally promised to let Mere cut his hair live on national tv if he won the million. However, Mere heard him say he'd do it for a lot less.
Mere showed him a large pair of scissors. Mere got him to promise this if he reached the Classic Millionaire level and almost got him to have it done right then.
Finally Randy agreed to have it done if he accumulates at least $25K.
Mere said the hair would be donated to Locks of Love (a charity that collects hair for children who have lost theirs for medical reasons)

Lauren finished the job.

Okay, I'm going to rant in this thread. None of what follows is meant as a slight to Locks of Love, which is a worthy charity.*

As I said yesterday, what's Meredith offering you for this deal, Randy? You've already been cast for the show and she's not going to do anything extra to help you. And here you're allowing her to renegotiate the deal twice in a matter of seconds, again without any offer from her!!!

Move over, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, it's time for Gimmicks "R" Us!

Do you need a lawyer to point out that your really haven't accumulated $25,000 yet, Randy? You can only keep half of your bank at this point...if you walk away!

And the humongus stage scissors that Meredith has been waving around turns out to be too dull to cut his ponytail! Classic!

And he loses his bank! What a perfect end to this mockery of a negotiation.

*If Randy really intended to donate his hair to Locks of Love, good for him. But it shouldn't have been done in the middle of this show. But, hey, maybe next week Mere will help out the Red Cross by convincing a contestant to give a pint of blood on stage. Dress up the Red Cross volunteer as Dracula and it'd be perfect for Halloween.** :P

**But not as perfect as a Flying Monkey. :(

Question 6 transcript answer is incorrect - should be d. Black Card.

Carry on.

Fixed. I had the blue card (an older one that I'm sure carried a limit) in the back of my mind all along.

I would so do that. Blood from a Flying Monkey, I have no shame. I put on my Halloween audition questionnaire that I had donated 7 1/2 buckets of blood.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

<Sheesh>® they certainly played this up a lot.

Not a co-worker, a customer, I believe. Randy said that he got one the other day and Meredith thought he was saying Amex had sent him one.

OK is anyone really surprised that the "random" money for this question was the $25K just after Randy agreed to let Meredith cut his hair if he added $25K to his bank?

Those who remember my first BAM show may recall that Regis and I discussed my long hair (which was longer than Randy's, BTW).

Well, he may have wanted to keep playing but that didn't pan out. "Turtle" should have pointed him away from hot air balloon. And after all the hoopla about getting his hair cut for $25K, he ends up with $1K.
