The first question demonstrates why it's helpful to know which questions are the first-tier questions. I wasn't paying attention to the Topic Tree when I watched the show and managed to reason out the answer via elimination. But when I saw on the transcript that it was meant to be a Level 1 question, I took a second look and realized that it was probably originally called "Yacht-zee." --Bob

This does not bode well for him winning a lot of money for his business. Could he not see the connection between "luxury boat" and the "yacht" in "Yahtzee"?

It was an interesting result. I think everyone was familiar enough with the history of the Kennedy assassination to know that, second gunman conspiracies aside, no other government officials were targeted in separate but related attacks, that day. That would leave the other three choices with 33% each, if they were randomly guessing. Lincoln, therefore, got about 10% of Garfield and McKinley's votes, from people who knew enough history to remember that the latter were victims of lone gunmen, while Booth was part of a southern sympathizer plot. Not an unreasonable ATA result, IMHO.

For me it's because I have never watched an episode of any of those shows. "The Bachelorette" seems likely, but it is a Level 7 question, which means it may not be the obvious answer.

Probably, I'm guessing, because earendel hasn't watched any of these series or paid attention to the entertainment news media discussing them.

I had the right answer, but only because Ashley's name was vaguely familiar to me from watching--well, not so much watching as being in the same room while it was on--this summer's season of The Bachelorette.

From a perspective of trying to reason out a pop culture question, I noted that all of the other shows were competitions, where someone ends up the champion but wouldn't properly be considered the "star" of the season. The Bachelorette, OTOH, was the center of each season, around which a group of bachelors vied for favor.

I haven't watched an episode of any of those shows, either, but the Bachelorette is so relentlessly hyped in commercials, magazines and elsewhere that you'd have to live under a rock to be unaware of these 3 names.

Actually Rivendell is a forest. Seriously, though, although I've heard about the show, I've never read a magazine article about it, nor heard any of the names mentioned in commercials. Tabloid covers in the grocery store line don't attract my attention, either.

When I just opened a different window to verify the listings for BAM for another thread, I noticed another place I pick up this stuff. Right now, trending #4 on Yahoo is Ali Fedotowsky. Whenever I notice a name there that I don't recognize, I click to see why they're trending. In this case, in what surely must be the rarest of occurrences, Ali and her beau have broken up...

Ha! I KNEW that either Ashley or Ali had been on some other show that was discussed here. I thought it was DwtS, but I checked their cast lists and found 3 other Bachelor(ette) types, but not them.
