Answer
C: Pat Garrett
I would have pulled the trigger on this one. Garrett was the only one, as far as I know, anyway, to live in NM for any extended period of time. He's the guy who shot Billy the Kid.

"There's 21 men I have put bullets through,
Sheriff Pat Garrett must make 22."

Or something like that. It's a Marty Robbins ballad. Bet it doesn't show up on LS...

It's not really a difficult question, if you know where they are. The Baltic is the only one of these which is (nearly) isolated: any tidal flow has to force itself through the narrow channel of the Kattegat. The Arabian, North and Bering Seas, OTOH, are seas only in a notional sense, really being parts of the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, respectively. No barriers at all to the tides, there.

I knew that about the Baltic and North seas. I thought the Arabian Sea might be like the Red Sea or the Persian Gulf.

I know I'll need to study geography if by some miracle I ever get on the show.

This question sucks. The only one of these I've ever been to is the Baltic Sea. I've seen the tide go from where you stand somewhere and the water is ankle-deep and then, a few hours later, it's chest deep. I've also heard of some of the islands in Estonia that one can drive or walk to at low tide, but require boats or swimming when the tide is in. I would not call these situations "virtually no tide."

I don't know you so it's hard to read your mind. Can you be more explicit? You think her strategy was bad? You think she should have known more of the answers? You think she doesn't belong on the show? You wish you had her stack? I think they could have found more knowledgeable contestants, if that's what you mean, but she didn't seem any worse than most of the other risk-averse types that they seem to prefer these days.

I think the sigh is contrasting the stack she got with the stack he got.

THIS. And really, if my MadLibs question had been swapped with Roger Daltrey relative to stack location, I'm celebrating a decent run where I likely cashed five figures, as questions 2, 3, and 4 followed.

Ha!

BTW, the real Sam's Cola will eat a hole through your stomach. I drank plenty of it my first year at Mecca since it was too tempting to pass up at 25 cents a can.... blech!

Pat Garrett killed more men than Billy the Kid. He was not always on the right side of the law.

Maybe you should try mixing it with Crystal Pepsi.

This column has another paragraph about Twilight's appearance.

http://medford.patch.com/articles/aroun ... illionaire

This one also refers to this being "the third time she set foot in the studios of the game show" without explaining the significance of that statement. Heck, I've set foot in the studio something like twenty times! :P

I wonder how much ribbing she gets now that the vampire series of the same name is so popular. I seem to recall some explanation of why her parents gave her that name but I can't recall it.

Ah, I knew something had been said.

I like the fact that the audience audibly clued her not to use the ATA lifeline. I'd JTQ also.

In thinking of the effects that the four individuals had on world events (the reason why they would have been selected) Hussein is the least "influential" so I'll go with him.

The only one I associate with New Mexico is Garrett, but I don't think that's enough to go on. I don't think the audience will know, but I have the ATA so might as well use it before walking away.

After saying she wouldn't use the ATA, I interpreted the groans as an indication that they did want her to ask them! And any feedback from the audience, before she officially decides to use the lifeline, seems improper to me. Otherwise, I can imagine a contestant sounding out their confidence level. "By applause, how many of you are absolutely confident you know this?"
