If the organization's expired website is any indication, they need the money ASAP!

I think Andy was the designated "captain" as far as having the final word when playing the game. Although Johnathan pushed the rules (and, amazingly, got rebuffed by Mere for doing so), Andy made a tactical mistake by jumping to the decision to ATA without discussing it with Johnathan. This really was one of those obscure WWOQs that I wouldn't expect the audience to know.

Most ordinary contestants in this situation would have walked. $15,750 vs. $10,000 is a lot easier wager to make than $15,750 vs. $1,000.

I didn't really have a clue, but I had a hunch that Dr. Ruth might have been from Israel, where military service is mandatory.

Time to look that up on Wikipedia...

First, she survived the Holocaust when her family sent her to an orphanage in Switzerland. Then she emigrated to Palestine.
Westheimer joined the Haganah in Jerusalem. Because of her diminutive height of 4 ft 7 in (1.40 m),[4] she was trained as a scout and sniper.[2] Westheimer was seriously wounded in action by an exploding shell during the Israeli War of Independence in 1948, and it was several months before she was able to walk again.[3][5]

I guess this is a one-off because there will be at least one regular contestant on Friday's show.
Does this mean that Meredith will do a guest apperance on "Deadliest Catch" as she did on "Ghost Hunters"?

Nice reasoning, even though Kafka isn't German.

Hey, I'd watch that episode!

But I think their job may be a bit too far out of Mere's comfort zone and the Alaska crabbing grounds are a bit too far to go for a little cross-promotion.

My reaction to this question was similar to Andy's. This is a nifty little trivia nugget I stored away a long time ago.
