Which of these authors has never had one of his books selected for Oprah's Book Club?
A: Mark Twain
B: Leo Tolstoy
C: Charles Dickens
D: William Faulkner
He was smiling because he hoped James Frey would be up there.
He seems to recall Faulkner. Thinks maybe Huck Finn was picked. He can't imagine Oprah telling her fans to read War and Peace.
He's not going to gamble his $93,500. He'd have guessed

Now I know how people feel when they say "Another wheelhouse question used up before I got on the show." Seven years at Barnes and Noble, I can answer this one with no hesitation, and even fill in most of the books in question:
Anna Karenina; a three book set including East of Eden and maybe As I Lay Dying (nobody bought it, so I'm not sure); and Tale of Two Cities, which pissed off booksellers who ordered tons of books, not anticipating she'd choose a book in the public domain.
Gotta think positively; if they can throw out "easy" questions when I'm not on the show, they can throw out even easier ones when I am.
"I will win BIG on a game show this coming year!" - since gsabc isn't using it any more.

I knew that Oprah had included "classics" on her list but I would have thought Tolstoy the least likely candidate. But since I still have a JTQ left, I'll use it here.
