Always fun to watch these no-nonsense players who are just smart and good at trivia. Glad KSFY didn't mess up and air the wrong episode again.

I'd have done the same thing.

Hmmm...I don't think it's the JFK assassination or the moon landing. I'm sure it's not Elvis sightings. Am I willing to risk it or use a lifeline? I'll use my last JTQ.

D: Zero energy

B: Zero mass
Value: $15,000

Was this transcribed correctly? If so then this is a terrible question - the correct answer (IMO) would be infinite mass or zero rest mass.

Light itself has 'mass', that is why it bends in a gravitational field. Although a photon has zero rest mass, it doesn't have zero mass.

As an object (that has a non-zero rest mass) approaches the speed of light, to a stationary observer would see its mass increase, i.e. more and more force would be required to keep accelerating it, to the point that at C (the speed of light) it would take an infinate amount of force, since the object would have an infinite amount of mass - that's what makes C the universal speed limit.

And a shout out to our buddy Majestic-12 [Bot]

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Yes, that's how the question read. I don't think the average person (or question-writer for BAM) knows the difference between zero mass and zero rest mass. Of the four choices given, B was the "right" answer.

Your gain was my loss. KEYE in Austin showed Tuesday's episode for the second day in a row.

I hope the local station that shows Jeopardy doesn't make that mistake. One of the contestants on J! Teachers Week is from Austin, and I see her pretty often at a weekly pub quiz. She seems pretty knowledgeable, but hasn't studied betting strategy. I asked if she knew about the two-thirds rule and she didn't, which didn't seem to bother her much.

It's like a football player not knowing what a blitz is. I mean, you can throw the ball, and run, and such, but if you don't have a plan, welllll...

I enjoyed this contestant. I would have dreaded the art question, as before it came up I was like "It's either Matisse or Cezanne, but I forget which..."

Thank you for this. I was very bothered by the question: if it had been a Jeopardy! question, without choices, my instant answer would have been "What is infinite mass?" So I feel reassured that I am right and they just asked the wrong question (or set it up wrong, or had the wrong form for the answer).
Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.

Before I was aware of game-show-related Internet message boards, I learned many of the rules-of-thumb on my own by watching and figuring what I would wager in each person's shoes, and I only learned the terms (besides the "Cliff Clavin Rule") when lurking on the Jeopardy board. Hopefully she's a regular watcher who knows what to do without knowing the lingo. Then again given some of the lousy wagering we've seen lately...
