Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I'm confused as to his reasoning on the last question. Why does photography play into this? There is clearly a painting out there about Washington crossing the Delaware. It shouldn't matter that photography hadn't been invented yet. Or did I miss some reference in the question itself?

I was wondering about that, too. I think he misinterpreted the question.

My thought was Saul Bellow (maybe he started out speaking Yiddish or some other language). I'd JTQ here.

I'd have used ATA also, and then JTQ because of the muddled results.

I have no idea why Nirav kept mentioning photography - even he admitted that it hadn't been invented at the time of some of these events. As for me, I thought it might have been Washington's crossing, since I can't imagine a promotion that would involve depicting a defeat. Maybe it had something to do with the 20th anniversary of the battle since Little Bighorn was in 1876. I'd have to walk away also.

Anheuser-Busch is based in St. Louis which is known for the launching point of Lewis and Clark - technically they departed from nearby St. Charles just across the river - but given all the L&C stuff in St. Louis and AB strong ties to the city, that seems like a really nasty distractor (and one I would have fell for).
