Good stack! For me anyway, not so much for this contestant.

Oh well.

That ain't what we used to sing on the mean playgrounds of GC back in the day.....

On top of old Smokey
All covered with blood
I shot my poor teacher
With a .44 slug

I went to her funeral
I went to her grave
I stepped on her flowers
And threw hand grenades

I hadn't heard of Brian Regal or his claim, but here's an interview with his discussing the topic.

http://blogs.sciencemag.org/origins/200 ... olves.html
Q: How did Darwin kill the werewolves?
B.R.: There were already writers in learned circles questioning the concept of the werewolf in the late 1500s. From an evolutionary point of view, the werewolf makes no sense. A half-human half-wolf/dog composite doesn’t work. An ape-man, however, a Bigfoot, makes sense because the ape-man idea is [at] the heart of human evolution.
So the folk who would claim to seen a werewolf suddenly became educated enough to know it made no sense? I doubt it, but good for them if it was so.

And for the record:
Q: How do you think Darwin viewed werewolves, centaurs, and other half-man, half-animal creatures?
B.R.: I have checked Darwin’s correspondence and published works, and I have not found him [to] make any direct reference to werewolves. In a letter from Darwin to the naturalist G. R. Waterhouse, dated 3 or 17 December 1843, he does mention that he did not believe there can be half of one thing and half of another. He also called animal monsters "a nasty, curious subject” when addressing a new book he had read by the French naturalist Saint-Hilaire.
I believe the "animal monsters" reference was to animals with severe birth defects, like having two heads, rather than to werewolves, centaurs and so forth.

Not very ambitious a goal. This is supposed to be "Who Wants to be a MILLIONAIRE".

$5K should get her a camera. So why play on?

If she "has a very good idea" why is she burning a lifeline?

None of the answers particularly make sense to me - why would werewolf sightings be affected by the theory of evolution? I'd JTQ also.

It's a shame she used her ATA on a question she probably would have answered correctly because the audience surely would have known this one. What's surprising is that she didn't. I guess she never went to camp.
