Most of these questions contain a little clue that makes them a lot easier (nude drawings, Mexican scientists).

I bet the rules were written by an American: the ball weighs 1/10 oz and bounces about 10 in when dropped from 1 ft. It's easy if you know the ball weighs just 1/10 oz.

I thought it was a canton.
I was expecting canton as well, but when I saw the choices I went with union without hesitation. Without checking, I think the "canton" refers either to the blue field or generically to a smaller device at a corner of a flag. I think the "union" is specifically the device used on the American flag. --Bob
