I would have said C because I've known several Smokeys and Bandits. The only Beast I've ever heard of is LB's namesake.

Good reasoning: "expand its borders" suggests a country near the U.S. Actually, some battles of the War of 1812 were in Canada (a British possession back then), and before that, the U.S. peacefully acquired French land, so they were all good distractors.

Wow! Rich's appearance actually got mentioned in a NY Daily News column! They have New York contestants all the time and they almost never get any press.

There's a line about the start of auditions, too.

Can you provide the link you used? I attempted to look it up and found many different lists from different years. The question didn't specify what year they were referring to, and the lists I saw changed quite a bit from year to year. I saw one where "Bandit" was #38. The question also didn't specify whether they were talking about just the pets that were newly named in the most recent year, or the cumulative inventory of still-living pets, regardless of age. I found one list that said "Bella" was #1. From what I could tell, this was not a good question with a single clear answer.

Okay, thanks. That one is from 2007. Here's some more recent data, which might be more valid, or might not.

Good catch. The answer given by the show was actually C. I did mistype.
"I will win BIG on a game show this coming year!" - since gsabc isn't using it any more.
