Dominique Dawes and Jonathan Horton
Olympic gymnasts

American Pride week concludes.

Meredith says that since this is an Olympic year the best way to finish the week was to have Olympians come on to play for charity. Waiting backstage are two gymnasts. One is a three-time Olympian and two-time gold medalist, the other has won silver and will be going for the gold in London. Dominique is a hall-of-famer who, after her retirement has been helping others, doing motivational speaking and is the co-chair of Michele Obama's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition in combating childhood obesity. Jonathan just flew in from Japan for the world championships. The team placed 3rd, the first time since 2003 that the U.S. has medaled. Jonathan hopes to be on the team in London. They are playing for the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Meredith asks about the USOC. Jonathan says they provide the backing needed to compete all over the world, especially at the Olympics, and achieve the best success they can. Dominique adds that being an Olympian is a big commitment of time and and finances. Having the support of the USOC means a lot. Meredith asks how the pressure of the Olympics compares to being on Millionaire. "This is worse," Jonathan says. Dominique adds that she'd rather kick off her 5" heels and flip than do this. It's nerve-wracking. The camera pans to show her shoes. Meredith asks, "Could you do that for us?" Dominique declines, because she is wearing a tight skirt. If she had a leotard she'd do it. Meredith observes that Jonathan isn't wearing a skirt. He replies that he broke his foot competing in the vault at the world championships. It's not as bad as it sounds but he can't flip.

That was a lot easier than it could have been. If they'd included Tom Selleck I would have had to JTQ.

Haptic! If they'd read the Observations, and if that had come up before this taping, they could have eliminated it. Well, they eliminated it anyway. Nevermind.

This is one of those rare words where I remember seeing it for the time time, in a book called The Dreaming Jewels by Theodore Sturgeon. Horton has an eidetic memory.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller

Finally, a question where my doctorate comes in handy! I walked by the College Hall daily, at U Penn. Even visitors to the campus wouldn't necessarily hear about this one, definitely level 10.

I'd JTQ also. This is a tougher question than most that have been seen this week.
