Transcript 03/06/08 - Chris Keating (carryover contestant)

#1 Post by BBTranscriptTeam » Thu Mar 06, 2008 7:33 pm

Guest Host: Dave Price

Chris Keating (carryover contestant)
West Nyack, NY

Dave has learned is how much easier this game looks that it is. Chris agrees with that.

Chris's ten-year-old son, Tyler, is a passionate game show fan; he found out how to audition from the WWTBAM web site.

Dave talks to Tyler, who is in the audience with his mother and little sister.

Dave: Now how's dad doing? I heard the one thing that you were concerned about was that dad was going to make you look silly. How's he doing?

Tyler: Fine. For now.

Dave: That's overwhelming support, there! Any advice before dad starts up again?

Tyler: Answer the questions!

$4,000
To view da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" in person, art lovers must visit what European city?

A: Madrid B: London
C: Rome D: Paris

Chris has seen the Mona Lisa and is pretty sure it was in Paris.

$8,000
Two years before "Frankenstein" was published in 1818, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin married what romantic poet?

A: Percy Bysshe Shelley B: William Wordsworth
C: William Blake D: John Keats

Dave comments that Chris is doing better now than on the $2,000 question.

Chris: You know, that food category--not my strength!

$16,000
Which of these nuts is classified in the same botanical "family" as the peach?

A: Pecan B: Almond
C: Cashew D: Macadamia nut

Chris: You had to give me another food question, didn't you?

If he had to guess, Chris would say pecan, but he doesn't have any confidence in that.

Chris walks with $8,000.

Answers:
$4,000: D: Paris
$8,000: A: Percy Bysshe Shelley
$16,000: B: Almond

Edited to properly identify whose son Tyler is. And to show that I know the difference between "know" and "now".

Not sure I would've made the guess w/o lifelines, but I would've guessed almond because of the old-time mystery connection. I know that peach pits, properly processed, can yield cyanide poison, which has the smell of ... all together Agatha Christie fans ... bitter almonds!

Thanks for this morning's "Oh yeah, that's right!" moment, mrk. I looked at that question and had no idea how you were supposed to know this, or where you'd have run across the information. Still think it was undervalued.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Agreed. That's a logical stretch worth six figures, at least!

I figured he wouldn't last long after using all of his lifelines yesterday. This one I knew because I seem to recall that both almonds and peach pits contain cyanide.
