An enlightening conversation-verbatim with my sis

#1 Post by Beebs52 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 7:23 am

To set the stage a bit-my sis/bro-in-law/niece and grandniece live in Charleston. My niece posted on FB yesterday that as she and her daughter were approaching my sis's apartment to have dinner lightning struck a power pole next to the apartment and, in fact, traveled through the floor and up my sis's leg. For real. She's okay. But still. I mean.

I texted her last night !!!!!???!!!! Are you okay??!?!? and like that.

This morning she texted me and I shall relay the entirety of our convo:

Kate: "I got struck by lightning whilst standing in my kitchen making dinner....a good case for not cooking, huh!"
Me: "That's insane."
Kate: "And it didn't curly hair (sic) either...rats!"
Me: "What did it feel like? Did the emts check you out?"
Kate: "It came up my feet and ended at my hoohah..it kind of itched for awhile...WMD was all around as was the fire dept but I didn't need no checkin'..."
WMD would be ems in English"

Me: "You have a blazing cooter? People would pay good money for that WMD indeed. How could lightning go thru your floor?"
Kate: Not around herre!!!" referring to good money
Truly a weapon of mass destruction. I guess it grounded through the concrete floor. TV and Internet router also fried."
Me: "You realize I have to tell peeps this conversation verbatim? If I can breathe through it Seriously glad you're not crispy"
Kate:" It is quite amusing if I do say so But I really wanted curly hair"

Me: Hmmm. Curling iron. Lightning strike. What to do. What to do."

Forget that I've never EVER heard my sister use the word hoohah.
Well, then

Will it make the Museum of Bad Bodily Secretion Art, or at least the Hoohah Wing?

Definitely the Hoohah Wing-I shan't touch the other and if you know what's best for your long term health you won't either.

enlightening. I see what you did there.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Just think of the money she can now save not having to buy batteries.

Aren't they already kind of curly?

I'm surprised this didn't make her crotchety.

Maybe she should consider a name change:
