This pressure is nothing like what Luke went through in grad school, when he worked with fish in Hawaii. One of the sharks got out of its pen and Luke and two others had to go put it back. He says that turning a shark on its back makes it go right to sleep. However, while Luke was holding its tail, the guy holding its middle let go.

Luke: The shark thrashed around quite a bit and hit me square in the most sensitive of sensitives with its tail. Knocked me cold over. I floated on my back for about ten minutes while the shark circled around beneath me and my buddies stood on the shore laughing.

Yeah, I'd take it. (They probably had another LS nightmare waiting to ambush me at $25K, though.)

I wonder if Luke ever watches the show? Did he think they'd put a trick question at the $500 level about voodoo kits?

And what was with his hair? That was a hairstyle that would go perfectly with Lloyd Bridges saying, "I guess I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing embalming fluid!" :P

Here's an article about Luke's run from his old home town paper.

http://blog.pennlive.com/lvbreakingnews ... n_t_3.html
Herman has three tattoos on his arm honoring his father, grandfather and grandmother and says he'll get more tattoos, build a motorcycle from scratch and pay off his debt, if his winnings stretch that far.
Yeah, that's what an article reported before we knew how much he'd win. Will $8K do it, Luke?

The rather dumb move on the $500 Q probably cost him here. If the ATA works at the 8K Q he saves the other 2 lifelines for a shot at the 25K. Instead he leaves with 8K, probably more than he deserved after the foolishness on the voodoo Q, in what sounded like another yawn inducing episode of Who Wants To Be A Thousandaire.

Luke, that twinge you feel is caused by BBs sticking pins into their contestant voodoo dolls for wasting a lifeline.

We get HBO but not Showtime, so I know which one I can't watch.

See what happens when you waste lifelines, Luke? "Doula" comes from the Greek word for female servant ("doulos" is the masculine equivalent). I have a friend who is studying to be a doula.

Yup.

Just another neighborhood in Queens.

But I think he needed to ride two different subway lines to reach the ABC studios from there... :P
