The Life of Pi is one of those novels that I don't talk about.

until now

I tried, I really tried, so many people talked about loving it, that I tried.

I just couldn't get through it.

It was worse than YaYaSisterhood for me.

I did read enough to know the tiger.

What does a tiger in a lifeboat have to do with 3.14159? :?

With all the news about torture, wiretapping and the like, how could she not have know this?

This comes under the heading of WWOQs IMO. I would have had no idea (tiger would have been my last guess). I don't think this would be a good ATA, so it's time to PAF. Google pulls up the Wikipedia entry and there it indicates that there were more animals than just a tiger - a hyena, an orangutan and a zebra.

Really? I loved it.

I also read YaYaSisterhood. But I would never admit to liking it.

"We only believe what we see."
"What do you do in the dark?"
- Life of Pi
The Life of Pi has shown up on so many people's "The Best Books I have Ever Read" list that I have been very shy about saying it I didn't get it, didn't like it and didn't finish it.

Peer pressure and all

I also didn't and don't get E.T.

FWIW I read a lot about the book, and the movie, but couldn't bring myself to read the book or see the movie. I did start the book while I was at the library one day but couldn't get through the first few pages.
