I might well have been gone on this one, believing, as Kevin did, that NH was too far north. Turns out that Louisville is at 38 degrees, so it couldn't be anything else but NH.

It's also helpful to know it's the border between New York, Vermont and Quebec.

Both of those are particular places that people don't have any particular reason for memorizing their coordinates. The 45th parallel doesn't have any memorable historical references as the 49th parallel does for the U.S.-Canadian border, further west, does it?

But, more generally, it would have helped if any contestants know the coordinates for their own home town. Knowing Boston's coordinates would have done it for Kevin in an instant.

Kev, the question clearly says that what they found in 2007 SUPPORTS the earlier theory, so first of all, yes the theory is older than 2007, and second, I doubt if they found supporting evidence for the old theory that they changed it to a new one. Franklin created fire-fighting clubs - whose members pledged only to help other members - they were modeled after similar clubs in Boston. Nor sure if the membership distinction differentiates clubs from departments.

Or perhaps the organization was one of the first clubs in Boston.
