I found it. I should've known that wasn't the right second line, but there was no getting over that first line...

12. I live my life as a thug, but girl, you know I need ya,
Each and ever women that I meet, damn, they don't wanna be ya.
It ain't no limit to what we could do.
Holla if ya hear me, girl, you know I'm comin' through.
I should have gotten this earlier. Rap lyrics with "no limit" in them? It points directly to Master P. The song is called I GOT THE HOOK-UP. It's interesting how we have this song and Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up" together. Those two titles contradict each other.
79. You don't have to waste my time,
If you want to be a friend of mine,
You can leave me now and walk away,
And turn your back for another day.
YOU OUGHT TO BE WITH ME, Al Green

Re: Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
Only problem with this theory is that it doesn't follow the instructions at the top, as far as I can tell. The idea is to put them into pairs and triples, then match them with another song on the list. So even if Oh Boy and Oh Girl are a pair for the Tangredi, we would have to match them with another song on the list to complete the match. Am I thinking correctly? I"ve been known to get lost in the weeds on these things....mellytu74 wrote:Obviously needs refinement but opposites?? that's too basic, because it would need the Tangredi twist but ...Pastor Fireball wrote:12. Re: Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
So thanks to Master P, I think I've got this one. Was trying to come up with other song titles that use the word Shaft, to use the Isaac Hayes title (because I didn't think Frank would use Theme from in a game). All I could think of was She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft). Then I thought, wait a minute, frickin' Jerry Reed is in this game!
Tangredi: parenthetical titles. Two or three pieces from titles of the game songs form the parenthetical part of a sing title by one of the artists also included in the game. The four I've found so far:
(19.WALKING+ 83. IN THE SAND) = Remember by 54. The Shangri-Las
(49. RUBY + 25. RED + 91. DRESS) = Leave Me Alone by 70. Helen Reddy
(54. I CAN + 26. DANCE) = Long Tall Glasses by 76. Leo Sayer
(12. I GOT THE + 92. SHAFT) = She Got the Goldmine by 55. Jerry Reed

I guess I should have guarded against it, but I'd never use words like "a" or "it" by themselves. They appear in multiple song titles, and it's impossible to avoid them. Sorry if I misled you.jarnon wrote:(100. OH + 31. WHAT A + 51. NIGHT) = December 1963 by 5. Four Seasons

But "It’s Only Rock and Roll" is the name of the game, and "(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman" is too good to pass up.franktangredi wrote:I guess I should have guarded against it, but I'd never use words like "a" or "it" by themselves. Maybe it was misleading. But there were too many ways to make those. And Aretha does have other songs.jarnon wrote:But "It’s Only Rock and Roll" is the name of the game, and "(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman" is too good to pass up.franktangredi wrote:I guess I should have guarded against it, but I'd never use words like "a" or "it" by themselves. Re: Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
There should be a YOUNG song somewhere in this game....
40. PRETTY + ??? + 18. THING = P.Y.T. by 87. Michael Jackson
Also a RECORD song would make sense, as using DorA's lesser known hit in a parenthetical seems to scream out for this one...
5. LIKE A + ??? = You Spin Me Round by 33. Dead or Alive
Here's some complete matches...
38. BUT + 60. I WON'T + 96. DO THAT = I Would Do Anything For Love by 4. Meatloaf
44. TIME + 72. OF YOUR LIFE = Good Riddance by 21. Green Day

Re: Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
NEW CONSOLIDATION
I added "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" by NKOTB.
One of the two unsolved songs has to be by Journey, because "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" is too good to pass up.
Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
Identify the 100 songs in the clues below. (Most are from the pop charts, but we make a few excursions elsewhere.) Create 26 pairs and 14 triples, then match each pair or triple with another song on the list, according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself. I couldn't find one other than Overnight Sensation (Hit Record) by the Raspberries, and I didn't want to use any songs with parenthetical titles in the game itself.littlebeast13 wrote:Ha, beat me to it....

Re: Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
All the completed matches are right except that you've got Aretha Franklin used twice as an artist. All the partials are right except for the one that has since been ruled out.
Pastor Fireball wrote:NEW CONSOLIDATION
I added "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" by NKOTB.
One of the two unsolved songs has to be by Journey, because "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" is too good to pass up.
Game #166: It’s Only Rock and Roll
Identify the 100 songs in the clues below. (Most are from the pop charts, but we make a few excursions elsewhere.) Aerosmith's "Big Ten Inch Record" was not a hit, but a popular novelty song (I've used it in LSWE several times). It's probably the only song that would've worked. I'm surprised to find out that there's never been a Top 40 hit with the word "record" singular in it as a part of the main title....

The final song, #37, is "Me Myself & I" by Beyonce.
I think we all know where that one is going...
