Just to stir the pot...

#1 Post by earendel » Wed Apr 26, 2017 7:23 am

PolitiFact has a page that lists Donald Trump's "Contract with the American Voter" that outlined his plans for his first 100 days in office. The page is marked up to show what has and hasn't been achieved.

It's really got me shaking my head when the dems and the MSM criticize Trump for not having accomplished much or not keeping his promises when they have proclaimed from the start their main goal is to stop him from doing anything....

You're confused. That was the Repugnant party and Obama.

As opposed to the GOP's pre-election statements regarding Hillary Clinton?

I quote from the Contract: "I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration." Still waiting to be introduced to the legislation on most of the measures, and waiting for him to work with Congress - the entire Congress, not just the House Republicans - on much of the rest.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Don't you remember the expert dealmaker said that he could get through all that.

Next up on Trump's greatest hits list, following Trumpcare and The Wall is the huuuuuuge tax plan that's already got Republican and conservative opponents.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

From Suitguy's link. I think it's pretty telling:

Trump's critics main points: There are no FACTS for any of these issues (yet).
--------------------------------------------
Imagined problems on his tax returns.

Imagined blackmail by Russia.

Imagined poor performance based on imagining a control case of another imaginary president doing the same job at the same time, but doing it faster.

Imaginary belief that doing things you prefer he not do is similar to not being competent.

Imagined staff problems that are bigger than they are.

Imagined nuclear holocaust that happens because of Trump’s imaginary insanity.

Imagined problems caused by his ignoring of facts that don’t matter.

Imagined future climate calamity. (They could be right, but for now it is imaginary because complex models have a bad track record.)

I had already read that Adams was a Trump fan. In a NY Times mag of 4/16/17 that the library-loan just got to me yesterday. Read it this morning. So the world is already over.

I wish that Politifact had spread the news that Trump didn't impose a federal hiring freeze. I guess that we wasted time getting exemptions for positions tied to national security and public safety.

I thought we were under a hiring freeze - I was told that's why there are three vacancies in our office.

We are. Politifact didn't credit Trump on fulfilling that promise. The

Trump reversed the hiring freeze about three weeks ago.

So let me see if I am getting this right:

Pre election, Trump pledges that there will be huge results in his first 100 days in office. (and no, I don't have the link, to all the many videos of this)

Now that we are nearing the 100 day mark Trumps outlook is to question why this 100 day mark is so important.

Um, Mr. President - We think it's important because you told us it was important.

Power, bravado, blustering, bullying, money and fear will get you some results. It may even get you past the 100 day mark. But when there is no plan, eventually 'most' will figure out that Hey - There is no plan!

I wish my dog was President. She doesn't know much, but she doesn't pretend to either.
