RIP William Hjortsberg
Author best known for his fantasy and science fiction novels, including Falling Angel, which was made into the movie Angel Heart with Robert de Niro, as well as the screenwriter of Legend, one of Tom Cruise's lesser efforts. This one is a couple of days old but I just heard about it.

I've literally never heard of him. Did he write under a pseudonym? --Bobsilverscreenselect wrote:Author best known for his fantasy and science fiction novels, including Falling Angel, which was made into the movie Angel Heart with Robert de Niro, as well as the screenwriter of Legend, one of Tom Cruise's lesser efforts. No, he wrote under his own name. Falling Angel is a terrific thriller with a great twist ending (which, if you've seen the movie, you know what the twist is, but I didn't know it when I read the book). When Open Road Books had their big giveaway last Christmas, I picked up about 500 books including a couple of his titles (not Falling Angel which wasn't part of the giveaway). I'll have to move one of them up my list now.

Wow. How often in the 21st century is the word "literally" used in its original denotation? Was that purposeful?Bob78164 wrote:I've literally never heard of him. No. I was using it for emphasis. --Bobmrkelley23 wrote:Wow. How often in the 21st century is the word "literally" used in its original denotation? I literally agree that "literally" is literally being overused.mrkelley23 wrote:Wow. How often in the 21st century is the word "literally" used in its original denotation? Was that purposeful?Bob78164 wrote:I've literally never heard of him. Did he write under a pseudonym? --Bob

I was going to say "used correctly" in my post, but I think that linguistic ship has sailed.Pastor Fireball wrote:I literally agree that "literally" is literally being overused.mrkelley23 wrote:Wow.
