ABC Announces Fall Schedule

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Wed May 17, 2017 9:51 am

The biggest news on ABC's fall schedule is that they are largely bailing on scripted programming on Sunday night, often the highest rated night of the week. However, recent ABC entries like Once Upon a Time, Quantico, Secrets and Lies, American Crime, and Time After Time have fared very poorly.

Monday

8:00 - Dancing with the Stars
10:00 - The Good Doctor (Freddie Highmore of Bates Motel as a 25-year-old autistic savant surgeon. Imagine a cross between Doogie Howser and Rainman)

Tuesday

8:00 - The Middle
8:30 - Fresh off the Boat
9:00 - Black-ish
9:30 - The Mayor (A rap singer runs for mayor of his hometown as a publicity stunt and wins the election)
10:00 - The Gospel of Kevin (Jason Ritter as a messed up loser who gets a visit from a "celestial being" who tells him his mission is to save the world)

Wednesday
8:00 - The Goldbergs
8:30 - Speechless
9:00 - Modern Family
9:30 - American Housewife
10:00 - Designated Survivor

Thursday

8:00 - Gray's Anatomy
9:00 - Scandal
10:00 - How to Get Away with Murder

Friday

8:00 - Once Upon a Time (the show is doing a reboot set years in the future in which Henry "the author" as an adult is the main character and has to explain everything to his own son)
9:00 - Marvel's Inhumans (spinoff of Agents of Shield which will return in this spot in the winter; Anson Mount stars)
10:00 - 20/20

Saturday - College Football

Sunday

7:00 - America's Funniest Home Videos
8:00 - To Tell the Truth
9:00 - Shark Tank
10:00 - Ten Days in the Valley (Kyra Sedgwick as a Shonda Rhymesian TV producer whose daughter goes missing and then finds that her hometown is as soap operatic as the show she produces)

Coming in 2018: Dancing with the Stars Junior Edition (with kid celebrities); The Bachelor Winter Games (former contestants compete); a reboot of American Idol; a limited series reboot of Roseanne with Roseanne Barr and John Goodman; and a live musical Little Mermaid. Also:

Alex, Inc.: Zach Braff quits his job and starts his own company to the dismay of his family.

Splitting Up Together: Jenna Fischer and Oliver Hudson get closer after their divorce.

The Crossing: This one is straight out of Lost. A boatful of refugees land near a small fishing town seeking political asylum. The only problem is that the war they are fleeing hasn't happened yet. Steve Zahn and Natalie Martinez star.

Deception: A disgraced stage magician helps the FBI solve cases. Seems like a reboot of The Mentalist under another name.

For the People: From Shonda Rhimes. The lives and work of the attorneys at the U.S. Attorney's and Public Defender's Offices in the Southern District of New York (aka New York City).

I assume this is a sequel to Joan of Arcadia, which I liked. I'm also looking forward to Roseanne.
