His wife of 70 years passed away earlier this year. From what Randy West said, Monty had been in really bad shape since then. What a classy and fun guy he was. A true TV legend who will be dearly missed.

I had the opportunity to meet him twice and can say that he was truly an incredibly nice and kind person.

And according to that This American Life regular who died a few years ago, who was Canadian, Hall was Canadian.

Ira Glass said "What! Who could be more American", & Canadian-guy said "he didn't *make* the deals, he just offered them. He enabled them.".

When Monty got to the Pearly Gates, St. Peter asked him to choose a door. Monty picked #3 and St. Peter asked if Monty wanted to keep that or to pick another door...
