I don't know why I still remember that skit from their show. Meanwhile, back at the Fun Fact Ranch.... Cher was named after Lana Turner's baby, Cheryl Crane. According to either Lana or Cheryl's book (I read both) Lana thought of the name in a dream and Cher's mother Georgeanne was so taken with it that she took a spin on it. I've always meant to research if Cheryl was actually a name before Lana dreamed it, but I never have.
