New Mexico State University has canceled today's scheduled men's basketball game against Cal Baptist and suspended the rest of its season indefinitely following new allegations of hazing by several players regarding a teammate. The coaching staff has been put on paid administrative leave. The team currently has a 9-15 record. Earlier this season, the school cancelled scheduled home-and-home games against New Mexico following an incident in which a New Mexico State player shot and killed a New Mexico student on the New Mexico campus. The incident was ruled self-defense. The current allegations are separate from the earlier incident.
New Mexico State has now canceled the rest of the season as further details emerge. The team had six games remaining plus the conference tournament. Three players are accused of holding a teammate down, pulling his pants off, slapping his rear end, and fondling him. The victim said similar incidents had occurred several times earlier in the season. The victim filed a police report but has not pressed charges yet. The report was released to the media with names redacted.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, New Mexico State has now fired first-year coach Greg Heiar. The Western Athletic Conference has declared the non-played games to be forfeits. The conference opponents will be credited with wins for tournament seeding. However, the NCAA does not recognize those wins.

The Justice Dept. won’t charge Representative Matt Gaetz after a sex-trafficking investigation, people with knowledge of the matter said.

An investigation had examined whether Representative Matt Gaetz broke federal laws, focusing on his relationships with women recruited online and whether he had sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Speaking of consecutive sentences ...

R. Kelly, already serving 30 years for sex trafficking, sentenced to 20 years in federal child porn case

Fortunately for R., the judge is allowing him to serve 19 years concurrently. He's also younger than Harvey, so maybe he'll get out of prison before he dies.

White Sox's Mike Clevinger won't face discipline after abuse complaint

Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger will not face discipline under MLB's joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy, the league announced Sunday.

He has voluntarily agreed to submit to evaluations by the treatment boards that cover domestic violence and drugs of abuse and also agreed to comply with any recommendations those boards make.

Clevinger, 32, had been under investigation after being accused of domestic abuse by the mother of one of his children. On Jan. 24, Olivia Finestead posted a photo on Instagram of marks on her body with accompanying words alleging that the injuries were "from when he threw an iPad at me pregnant" and that she "finally left when he strangled me."

Jonathan Majors, co-star of the current Creed III and Antman: Quantumania films, has been arrested in New York on domestic violence allegations. A 30-year-old woman filed the complaint against Majors, alleging that he assaulted and tried to strangle her. She had minor injuries to her head and neck and was admitted to a hospital in stable condition. Majors denies all the allegations. Ironically, in Creed III, he plays a boyhood friend of Adonis Creed who is released from prison after serving a lengthy sentence.

GOP leader who voted to expel Tennessee Three resigns after being found guilty of sexually harassing interns

Well, well, well, well. Who could have seen this coming? The same Tennessee legislature that just expelled two Black members for speaking out of turn about gun violence, formed a secret committee to quietly investigate the sexual harassment of interns by Republican Vice-Chair Scotty Campbell. They found him guilty, and paid thousands of dollars to his victims, but did nothing to punish Campbell, who abruptly resigned when the media caught wind of it. More like Grand Old Boys Club!

Yeah, I'm surprised she didn't add that he made her pee on the hotel bed, or something similar.

Actor Danny Masterson has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he raped three women in the early 2000s. The alleged assaults occurred from 2001 to 2003 and the women testified at a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles this week. He is also the defendant in a civil suit alleging that he directed the Church of Scientology to follow and harrass his accusers following their coming forward. He faces up to 45 years in prison on the criminal charges.
Masterson has been convicted on two of the three rape charges at his retrial. His first trial resulted in a mistrial when the jury could not reach a verdict. The jury was hung (8-4 in favor of conviction) on the third charge at the retrial. He faces a maximum of 30 years to life in prison.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Says Groping Women Was Wrong: ‘It Was Bulls—. Forget All the Excuses, It Was Wrong’

In Netflix’s upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary series “Arnold,” the actor and former California governor somewhat apologizes for groping women in the past (via Rolling Stone). Five days before the 2003 California governor election, the Los Angeles Times published a report in which six women accused Schwarzenegger of groping and humiliating them. Schwarzenegger said at the time the reports were “made-up” and he “never grabbed anyone,” though he also admitted he “behaved badly sometimes” in the past.

Larry Nasser, the former physician who was convicted on multiple counts of abusing female gymnasts at Michigan State and with the US Olympic team, has been stabbed in an altercation with another inmate at a Florida federal prison. Nasser is serving over 100 years on various assault and child pornography charges. He was originally sent to a prison in Arizona, where he was attacked shortly after being released in the general population. He was then transferred to the maximum security facility in Florida. I guess it wasn't secure enough for him. Sources say that Nasser will be moved to another prison when he gets out of the hospital.

Another case of nature taking its course.

ABC News wrote:Former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar was stabbed in prison after a comment he allegedly made while watching the women's Wimbledon tennis tournament with other inmates, according to sources familiar with the case.

Nassar, who was convicted of sexually assaulting U.S. gymnastics team members, allegedly said to other inmates on Sunday, "I wish there were girls playing," according to sources.

That comment, according to sources, led a fellow inmate to go to Nassar's cell later in the day and stab him at least six times with a manufactured weapon, according to sources.
He really should exercise his right to remain silent.

The Washington Commanders owner led a campaign against women who alleged widespread sexual harassment on the N.F.L. team, a House panel found.

At the behest of the team's owner, Daniel Snyder, the Commanders' legal team used private investigators to harass and intimidate witnesses, and created a 100-page dossier targeting victims, witnesses and journalists who had shared “credible public accusations of harassment” against the team, the congressional panel found.
NFL owners unanimously OK the Commanders sale to Josh Harris; Dan Snyder fined $60M on the way out

Harris is the principal owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils.

The judge in E. Jean Carroll's second lawsuit against Donald Trump has thrown out Trump's counterclaim that she defamed him when she said he raped her. Her first trial, which resulted in a $5 million verdict, was based on the assault that occurred in the 1990s. The jury found that Trump assaulted her but that he did not actually rape her. This second trial, which is scheduled for January, is a defamation suit based on comments Trump made about her after she went public with the assault claim during his presidency. Trump counterclaimed, saying that her recent statements that he raped her were untrue and defamatory, based on the jury verdict in the first trial. The judge dismissed the counterclaim, saying that Carroll's statements were substantially true based on the jury verdict. Trump will appeal this dismissal.

As a lawyer, you should know that's wrong! The jury found that she could not say for sure that Trump's tiny penis was inserted in her as it is smaller than his fingers.

Wander Franco on MLB restricted list, Dominican authorities investigating alleged relationship with minor

The Tampa Bay Rays and shortstop Wander Franco have mutually agreed that Franco will go on the restricted list, the team announced on Monday. Major League Baseball is investigating allegations made against Franco on social media. Franco will be on the restricted list at least through the club's six-game road trip that started Monday night.

Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that Dominican Republic authorities are investigating Franco for an alleged relationship with a minor, confirmed by the office of the attorney general.
