#1 Post by franktangredi » Thu Apr 25, 2024 7:29 am

Game #216: Sing a Song

Identify the 60 songs below. Then match them into 35 pairs according a Tangredi, or principle you must determine for yourself. Ten songs will be used twice – sometimes in different capacities, sometimes in the same capacity.

1. Dream, if you can, a courtyard,
An ocean of violets in bloom.
Animals strike curious poses,
They feel the heat,
The heat between me and you.

2. Won't you place your sweet lips to mine?
Won't you say you love me all of the time?

3. Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

4. All you gotta do is hold him, and kiss him and squeeze him and love him
Yeah, just do it
And after you do, you will be his.

5. Tryna figure which deal I'ma take. (Uh-huh.)
I woke up, couple mil' on my plate. (Let's eat.)
I'm investing in real and estate. (Uh-huh.)
I just went gave my mama a hundred. (A hundred.).

6. Music hits me so hard,
Makes me say "Oh, my Lord,
Thank you for blessing me
With a mind to rhyme and two hyped feet."

7. In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey,
Butane in my veins and I'm out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables,
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose.

8. Anyone can tell you you're pretty
And you get that all the time, I know you do,
But your beauty's deeper than the makeup
And I wanna show you what I see tonight.

9. It's the same old theme
Since 1916.
In your head, in your head, they're still fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying.

10. Tell me why
Everything turned around.
Packing up,
Shacking up is all you want to do.

11. You know, the landlord rang my front door bell,
I let it ring for a long, long spell,
I looked through the window, I peeked through the blind,
And asked him to tell me what was on his mind.

12. A thousand other boys could never reach you,
How could I have been the one?
I saw the world spin beneath you
And scatter like ice from the spoon
That was your womb.

13. Who am I? Someone that's afraid to let go, uh,
You decide if you're ever gonna let me know, yeah,
Suicide, if you ever try to let go, uh.

14. I'm solid gold,
I've got the goods,
They stand when I walk
Through the neighborhoods.

15. I've heard some talk,
They say you think I'm fine.
Yes, I'm in love
And what I'd do to make you mine.

16. Them baggy sweat pants and the Reeboks with the straps,
She turned around and gave that big booty a slap.

17. All day long they work so hard till the sun is going down,
Working on the highways and byways and wearing, wearing a frown.

18. I think of all the education that I've missed,
But then my homework was never quite like this.

19. Ah, my buddy Jim Bass, he's a-working pumping gas
And he makes two-fifty for an hour,
He's got rhythm in his hands as he's tapping on the cans,
Sings rock and roll in the shower.

20. Excuse me if I seem a little unimpressed with this,
An anti-social pessimist, but usually I don't mess with this,
And I know you mean only the best
And your intentions aren't to bother me,
But honestly I'd rather be
Somewhere with my people we can kick it and just listen
To some music with the message (like we usually do.)

21. Now let me glue that, glue that and screw that, screw that.
Any random chore you got, well I can do that, do that,
Or maybe I'll just rewire your house for fun,
I got 99 problems but a switch ain't one.

22. You don't know how to play the game
And you cheat, you lie,
You don't even know how to say goodbye.

23. I know where beauty lives.
I've seen it once, I know the warmth she gives,
The light that you could never see,
It shines inside, you can't take that from me.

24. You're so indecisive of what I'm sayin'
Tryna catch the beat, make up your heart.
Don't know if you're happy or complainin'
Don't want for us to end, where do I start?

25. If I'm seen with someone new
Don't be blue,
Don't you be blue,
I'll be faithful,
I'll be true.

26. Day is done,
Gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh, God is nigh.

27. Lead me out on the moonlit floor,
Lift your open hand,
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance.

28. Romeo loved Juliet.
Juliet, she felt the same
When he put his arms around her
He said, "Julie, baby, you're my flame."

29. I'm talkin' to myself in public, dodging glances on the train,
And I know, I know they've all been talkin' about me,
I can hear them whisper, and it makes me think
There must be somethin' wrong with me,
Out of all the hours thinkin', somehow I've lost my mind.

30. 'Til the sheep in the valley come home my way,
'Til the stars fall around me and find me alone,
When the sun comes a-singin', I'll still be waitin'….

31. I got me some braids and I got me some hos,
Started rockin' the sleeve, I can't ball with no Joes,
You know how I do it, Concords on my toes.

32. Oh, now you can have me when you want me
You simply ask me to be there
And you're the only one who makes me come running
'Cause what you got is far beyond compare.

33. Chapter one says to love her,
You love her with all your heart.
Chapter two, you tell her
You're never, never, never, never, never gonna part.

34. Right now, he's probably slow dancin' with a bleach-blonde tramp
And she's probably gettin' frisky,
Right now, he's probably buyin' her some fruity little drink
'Cause she can't shoot whiskey.

35. They are disobedient, disrespectful oafs!
Noisy, crazy, sloppy, lazy loafers!

36. I don't care if everybody's gone,
Turn it up 'cause it turns me on.
Keep dancin' all night long,
It feels so right that it can't be wrong.

37. I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there.
I figured it made sense,
Building me a fence.

38. One mile to every inch
Of your skin like porcelain,
One pair of candy lips
And your bubblegum tongue.

39. I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through.
Please believe me, my heart is in your hands
'Cause I'll be missing you.

40. Why did I listen to my friends
When they told me what to do?
Yes, I still have my friends
But I don't have you.

41. Stronger than any mountain cathedral,
Truer than any tree ever grew,
Deeper than any forest primeval,
I am in love with you.

42. I was ridin' shotgun with my hair undone
In the front seat of his car,

He came into her apartment,
He left the bloodstains on the carpet.

But I'm just a prisoner of your love
And I may seem alright and smile when you leave
But my smiles are just a front.

46. Just a funky thing to let you
Groove to the music, yeah.
A funky, funky thing
We know that you and you can use it.

Started wearing less and goin' out more,
Glasses of champagne out on the dance floor,
Hangin' with some girls I've never seen before.

With you there's a heaven
So earth ain't so bad.
