The curse of the Tangredi skips a generation but is otherwise still powerful.

Former US Senator from California who was the basis for Robert Redford's character in The Candidate. Tunney quickly lost favor with the electorate, however, and was voted out after a single term. He was also the son of former heavyweight champion (and answer in the current Tangredi puzzle) Gene Tunney.

He lost because he was too conservative. Tom Hayden ran against him but came in second. Many of Hayden's supporters didn't turn out for Tunney.
